Rays down Marlins to secure top spot in SLBA

Western Rays have secured the minor premiership in the 2021 Super League Baseball Adelaide season after recording a 9-4 victory over the Northern Marlins on Wednesday night.

Jack Partington hit a home run and was one of three Rays players to drive in two runs as they defeated the Marlins to pick up their fifth win and finished on top of the table.

Rays seize second spot with sweep of Redsox in GBL

Redlands Rays have improved to second spot in the Greater Brisbane League after sweeping their Sunday doubleheader against the Mudgeeraba Redsox at Firth Park.

After picking up a 5- 1 victory in game one, the Rays continued their recent run of good form with a 6-1 victory to improve their record to 12-4 on the season.

Bailey, Giants blank Braves in big WASL 1 clash

A gem from Tom Bailey has helped Wanneroo Giants to a convincing 10-0 victory over Braves Baseball Club in WA State League 1 action on Sunday.

In a matchup between second and third on the table entering the weekend, Bailey rose to the occasion throwing seven shutout innings in an impressive performance.

Hawks survive fright to down Redsox in SA Women's League

Southern Districts Hawks survived a late fightback from East Torrens Redsox to claim a 9-7 victory in South Australian Women’s League action on Sunday afternoon.

The Hawks seemed destined for a comfortable afternoon after taking 8-1 into the bottom of the third inning before the Redsox rallied back into the contest.


SA WOMEN’S LEAGUE: Results, schedule, standings & news

East Torrens loaded the bases and drew three walks to make it an 8-4 game before Southern Districts added an insurance run on Abi Jorgensen’s hard ground ball in the fourth.

The Redsox rallied again in the bottom half scoring runs on an Ashley Ng walk and an Ella Forrester RBI single cutting it to a 9-6 game.

The home side got the tying run to the plate but Kira O’Brien was able to seal the win for the Hawks.

Ellie Tucker had a team high three RBI for Southern Districts.

In Sunday’s other clash, top of the table Sturt Saints continued their unbeaten run with an 18-3 win over Woodville Senators at Don Klaebe Field.

The Saints flexed their muscle early scoring five runs in the first including a two-run triple by Julie Wadham.

Sturt added four more runs in the second and then a further five in the third including an RBI single by Lucy Davis.

The SA Women’s League continues on Sunday with undefeated Sturt taking on reigning premiers Glenelg Tigers in a big clash.

Royals produce big comeback to down Cougars in VSBL

Sandringham Royals have produced a stunning comeback to end Berwick City’s unbeaten start to the Victorian Summer Baseball League at Tulip Street Reserve on Sunday afternoon.

Trailing 6-0, the Royals rallied back behind nine unanswered runs and 4 2/3rd scoreless innings in relief from Riley Trad to claim a 9-6 victory and improve to 2-2 early in the season.

Workers walk-off Hawks for first win of NSWSBL campaign

Blacktown Workers have picked up their first win of the New South Wales State Baseball League season walking off Ryde Hawks 7-6 on Sunday afternoon.

After the two sides played to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night, Workers ensured that would not be the case on Sunday when Brent Iredale broke a 6-6 deadlock by doubling home Lachlan Bojarksi with two out in the ninth.

It was the Hawks who made the early running scoring three runs in the second inning capped by Harry Mahoney’s two run double.

After adding a run in the third, Blacktown recaptured the lead in the fourth scoring two runs including an RBI single by Ben Martin.

Ryde regained the advantage with a three-run sixth before Workers tied the game after Josh Strong’s RBI triple and another RBI hit by Martin.

From there, Blacktown’s bullpen held it down with Tyrone Fergie and Dylan Clarke combining for three scoreless innings before Iredale gave his side the win with his walk off hit.

Martin and Strong each drove in a pair of runs for Blacktown while Harry Mahoney had three hits and three RBI for the Hawks.

In Saturday’s action, Cronulla Sutherland Sharks used a five-run second inning to defeat Macarthur Orioles 6-4 at Gilchrist Oval.

The Sharks used a patient approach at the plate drawing seven walks in the frame to take a 5-2 lead after the Orioles scored two runs in the bottom of the first.

Cronulla made it 6-2 on Jaedan Cavill’s RBI single before Macarthur rallied for two runs in the seventh to set up a tense finish,
However, Kurt Eden held his nerve earning the save for three scoreless innings of work to seal the win for the Sharks.

Shayne Fogorty turned in an impressive relief performance for the Orioles allowing just one run in seven innings while striking out 11.

Baulkham Hills Kookaburras avenged their opening night defeat to Manly Eagles with an 8-3 victory at Aquatic Reserve.

Nick Chappell played a key role in the win for the Kookaburras with three hits and three RBIs including a two-run single in Baulkham Hills pivotal five run seventh inning.

Zak Elvy collected the win for the Kookaburras throwing five innings allowing just one unearned run while striking out seven.

Canterbury Bankstown Vikings improved to 2-0 after three pitchers combined for a two-hit shutout of Greater Western Warriors.

Jayden Bastow, Rocky Yates and Jacob Foster combined to strike out 15 batters in just seven innings as the Vikings recorded an 11-0 win at Riverside Park.

As well as on the mound, the Vikings got it done at the plate with William Fullerton having three hits, scoring four runs and driving in three while Brendan Kingman was 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

The NSW State Baseball League season continues on Wednesday night.

Saints end Eagles unbeaten SASL start in extras

Sturt Saints have ended West Torrens Eagles unbeaten start to the South Australian State League season with a see-sawing extra innings victory at Lockleys Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Simon Adkins and Jordan McArdle had the important RBI in the 10th inning as the Saints collected a 5-3 victory over the Eagles in a clash where the lead changed several times.

Giants use big bats to down Rams in WASL1

Wanneroo Giants continued their good run of recent form with a comprehensive 15-0 victory over Rockingham Rams in WA State League 1 action at Empire Ballpark on Friday night.

Byron Armstrong drove in five runs for the Giants as nine players drove in runs for Wanneroo whp improved their season record to 10-2 with the win.

Wanneroo jumped out to a fast start scoring four in the first including a two run double by Armstrong.

The Giants continued to swing hot bats, scoring multiple runs in all four innings including a six-run fourth innings which helped to finish the contest early.

Frazer Brice collected the win pitching four one hit innings while striking out four batters in a solid pitching performance.

Finlay Duncan had the lone hit for Rockingham.

It doesn’t get any easier for the Rams who take on top of the table Morley Eagles on Sunday.

First pitch at Crimea Park is set for 3.50pm.

2nd place Wanneroo are set for a big match-up against 3rd place Braves.

Kilby's blast helps Padres snap Lightning's winning streak in GBL

Jason Kilby’s three-run blast in the ninth inning has helped Redcliffe Padres snap Pine Hills Ligntning’s ten game winning streak with a 6-3 victory in Greater Brisbane League action on Friday.

With the game tied at 3 entering the ninth, Kilby launched a shot to centre off Lightning reliever Sam Beattie give the Padres the lead at James Drysdale Reserve.


GREATER BRISBANE LEAGUE: Results, schedule, standings & news

Redcliffe took a 1-0 lead in the third on Carter Bell’s bases loaded walk but Pine Hills were able to seize the momentum in the sixth.

After a single and a walk chased Padres starter Nathan Sharrow, David Sutherland and Tim Preston both had RBI singles before Sutherland scored on a wild pitch to put the Lightning up 3-1.

Redcliffe answered immediately in the seventh with Lachlan Wilson tripling home a run before scoring on Liam Taylor’s RBI single to tie the game.

It remained that way until Kilby’s heroics in the ninth before Sam Holland struck out the side in the 9th to seal the win for the Padres.

Holland stuck out seven for Redcliffe in 3 1/3rd innings in relief to earn the win.

Elsewhere, Coomera Cubs picked up a 10-4 victory over Wests Bulldogs in a clash which was moved to Regents Park due to Queensland’s inclement weather.

Coomera jumped out to an early 3-1 advantage before Wests tied the game on Po-Chaun Lai’s two run blast in the third.

However, the Cubs responded scoring runs in four consecutive innings to pull away from the Bulldogs.

Stephen Best and Michael Sharp each had three RBI for Coomera while Ian Lee reached based five times including four walks.

Sam McNeice collected the win for the Cubs throwing 3 1/3rd innings in relief allowing just one earned run.

In Friday’s other completed contest, Windsor Royals turned in a powerful hitting display to defeat Pine River Rapids 16-6 at Les Hughes Sporting Complex.

It was tight contest early before the Royals pulled away on the back of seven run fifth inning to make it a 10-1 game.

The two teams will clash again on Sunday afternoon.

Matchups between Ipswich Musketeers and Surfers Paradise and Redlands Rays against Mudgeeraba Redsox were washed out.
The GBL action continues on Sunday.

Bojarski commits to Vernon College

West Australian utility Dylan Bojarski is the latest Aussie to commit to Vernon College.

The 18-year-old, who was part of the National Junior Squad this year, says the Texas school is a great choice for him as he chases his goal of playing professionally.

Eagles blank Cubs in WASL1, extend winning streak

Morley Eagles extended their WA State League 1 winning streak to 11 games following a shutout defeat of South Perth Cubs at Empire Ballpark on Wednesday night.

Alex Hall went deep and Josh Silvi, Riley Franklin, Cody Holt and Brendan Sing combined to blank the Cubs in a 5-0 win.
