Hawks survive fright to down Redsox in SA Women's League
Southern Districts Hawks survived a late fightback from East Torrens Redsox to claim a 9-7 victory in South Australian Women’s League action on Sunday afternoon.
The Hawks seemed destined for a comfortable afternoon after taking 8-1 into the bottom of the third inning before the Redsox rallied back into the contest.

East Torrens loaded the bases and drew three walks to make it an 8-4 game before Southern Districts added an insurance run on Abi Jorgensen’s hard ground ball in the fourth.
The Redsox rallied again in the bottom half scoring runs on an Ashley Ng walk and an Ella Forrester RBI single cutting it to a 9-6 game.
The home side got the tying run to the plate but Kira O’Brien was able to seal the win for the Hawks.
Ellie Tucker had a team high three RBI for Southern Districts.
In Sunday’s other clash, top of the table Sturt Saints continued their unbeaten run with an 18-3 win over Woodville Senators at Don Klaebe Field.
The Saints flexed their muscle early scoring five runs in the first including a two-run triple by Julie Wadham.
Sturt added four more runs in the second and then a further five in the third including an RBI single by Lucy Davis.
The SA Women’s League continues on Sunday with undefeated Sturt taking on reigning premiers Glenelg Tigers in a big clash.
