NSW state championship dates, locations revealed

Baseball New South Wales has revealed the dates and locations of its 2022 state championships.

The 2022 state charter calendar features a massive April with the four qualifying events for the Australian Championships taking place over three-straight weekends.

SA infielder to link up with North Iowa Area Community College

South Australian infielder Darcy Barry has committed to North Iowa Area Community College.

The 18-year-old was a member of Team Australia’s U-18 squad this year and will head to the Trojans with the hope of progressing on to a top-level school.

Marlins walk off Seahawks in SLBA opener

Northern Marlins were forced to dig deep to start their Super League Baseball Adelaide title defence with a win, rallying from six runs down to walk off the Southern Seahawks on Wednesday night.

Jake Campbell’s RBI-single lifted the Marlins to an unlikely 8-7 win at West Beach after they fell behind 7-1 down to their final six outs.

Aussie named to Arizona Fall League roster

South Australian Curtis Mead’s impressive 2021 Minor League Baseball campaign has seen him rewarded with a spot on an Arizona Fall League roster.

The 20-year-old Tampa Bay Rays prospect will feature for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the six-team league which features elite young talent, including 17 of MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 Prospects, from each of the 30 MLB organisations.

Baseball, softball governing bodies reaffirm support for Olympic push

Following softball and baseball’s return to the Olympic cycle during the Tokyo 2020 Games, Softball Australia and Baseball Australia have begun discussions on the diamond sports returning to sport’s biggest stage in LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032.

Softball Australia’s National Women’s team, the Aussie Spirit, competed at the Olympics for the first time since Beijing 2008, while Baseball Australia’s National Men’s team Team Australia were unfortunately forced to withdraw from their Tokyo Olympic Qualifier due to Covid-19 concerns, they made their last appearance in 2004.

Hendriks collects AL Reliever of the Month Award

West Australian Liam Hendriks has been named the American League Reliever of the Month for September.

The Chicago White Sox closer finished the regular season in red-hot form, going 8-f0r-8 in save opportunities and working 13 2/3 scoreless innings across 13 appearances in September and October.

Reimers helps Cats to WA State League 1 win

A gem from Tarrant Reimers helped Carine Cats to a season-opening WA State League 1 win at Empire Ballpark on Sunday.

Reimers struck out seven in a seven-inning complete game shutout as the Cats secured a 2-0 win over Rockingham Rams.

The board of Baseball Victoria is seeking expressions of interest for board directors, including the role of president.

Board president Meghan Mayman will step down at the end of October, fulfilling a short-term plan as the BV nominations committee continued the process of reshaping the presidential role over the past year.

Wells collects win in longest MLB outing

New South Welshman Alexander Wells produced his longest Major League Baseball outing as Baltimore Orioles dented the playoff hopes of the Boston Red Sox on Friday morning.

Wells went six innings, allowing one run on three hits and two walks, as the Orioles played spoiler with a 6-2 win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Big second lifts Braves over Hawks in WA State League 1

Braves rode a 10-run second inning to victory in their 2021/22 WA State League 1 season-opener at Empire Ballpark on Thursday night.

The big top of the second helped Braves overturn an early deficit on their way to a 12-7 win over Gosnells Hawks, who fell to an 0-2 record after going down to Victoria Park/Belmont Reds in the opening game of the season on Wednesday night.

Reds collect first win of WA State League 1 season

Victoria Park/Belmont Reds picked up the first win of the 2021/22 WA State League 1 season on Wednesday night.

A seven-run fifth put the Reds on top as they secured a 10-1 win over Gosnells Hawks at Empire Ballpark.
