Just hours remain before Team Australia Futures take on the Adelaide Giants in the first of two games at West Beach this weekend.
A 20-strong roster was named earlier this week – after plenty of tough decisions – featuring some of the country’s most exciting up-and-coming prospects and some recently returned college players.

Twenty players from around the country have been named to the Team Australia Futures roster set to take on the Adelaide Giants at West Beach this weekend.
Eight players from New South Wales, six from Queensland and two each from South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia have been named for the two-game series against the Australian Baseball League franchise.

Braves survived a late rally to claim a 6-5 victory over Carine Cats in WA State League 1 action Sunday afternoon.
Braves raced out to 6-2 lead before Carine threatened to pinch the contest with a ninth inning rally which ultimately came up just short.

Tyson Noel struck out nine and Maddux Stivey had two RBIs and recorded the final three outs as Swan Districts Swans overcame Carine Cats 3-2 in Thursday night’s WA State League 1 action at Empire Ballpark.
Stivey struck out three of four batters he faced after entering with the bases loaded as the Swans survived to pick up a fourth win in five games to start the new season.

West Australian teenager Maddux Stivey has committed to San Jacinto College and will head to the US to join the Gators next year.
The 2020 U18 Australian Youth Championship Most Valuable Player and Baseball WA state high performance program product will join the Texas junior college as a two-way player.

Swan Districts’ Maddux Stivey impressed in his first hit out in Perth colours during the Heat’s Australian Baseball League exhibition game against Brisbane’s Futures team on Friday night.
Stivey, the 2020 Australian Youth Championship U18 Most Valuable Player, struck out three in two scoreless innings as Perth won 11-3 at Empire Ballpark.

Perth has made the most of a difficult situation, using its exhibition game against Brisbane’s Futures team on Friday night to get valuable game time into its imports and give some young guns an opportunity to impress.
The Heat were slated to start their season proper against Canberra but that was derailed earlier in the day with the Cavalry not travelling to Perth for COVID-related reasons.

Returning Perth manager Andy Kyle has backed his local arms to play key roles early as the Heat’s imports settle into the Australian Baseball League following their quarantine period.
He also flagged the chance for some of Western Australia’s young pitchers to get a chance at ABL level with expander rosters, Mitch Neunborn Adelaide-bound and Perth also set to enter the new season without Philadelphia prospect Josh Hendrickson and reliable reliever Josh Rawlinson.

Maddux Stivey was named the U18 Most Valuable Player and Zac Newbold picked up the U16 honour at the 2020 Australian Youth Championship.
Stivey, who was part of Western Australia’s gold medal winning U18 outfit, was named MVP following yesterday’s decider after putting together an impressive tournament with bat and ball.
