Clark drives in seven, lifts Braves to big WA State League 1 win

Kevin Clark drove in seven runs to help lift ladder-leading Braves to a 17-4 home win over Perth in Sunday’s WA State League 1.

Clark put Braves up 5-0 in the first with a grand slam and added a two-run single in the second after Perth had rallied and drawn within a run in the top of the inning at Winnacott Reserve.

Kyle backing Heat's local arms to get job done early

Returning Perth manager Andy Kyle has backed his local arms to play key roles early as the Heat’s imports settle into the Australian Baseball League following their quarantine period.

He also flagged the chance for some of Western Australia’s young pitchers to get a chance at ABL level with expander rosters, Mitch Neunborn Adelaide-bound and Perth also set to enter the new season without Philadelphia prospect Josh Hendrickson and reliable reliever Josh Rawlinson.

Veteran lefty set for 11th season with Heat

Modern-day Australian Baseball League wins leader Daniel Schmidt will front for an 11th season with Perth, the club announced on social media on Thursday night.

Schmidt took sole lead of the category last season from former Sydney pitcher Craig Anderson and collected three wins in total, taking his tally to 38.

Schmidt added to Australia's Premier12 roster

Daniel Schmidt has been added to Boral Team Australia’s Premier12 roster as a late injury replacement.

The 31-year-old Perth pitcher replaces Travis Blackley, who exited the second-to-last game of Australia’s Fuchu training camp injured.

Heat re-sign equal ABL wins leader

Perth has re-signed joint modern-day Australian Baseball League wins leader Daniel Schmidt for the 2019/20 season.

The 31-year-old returns for a 10th season with the Heat leading the relaunched league with 35 wins alongside recently retired Sydney starter Craig Anderson.
