Whitefield headed back to the show

Aaron Whitefield is headed back to the show.

The Los Angeles Angels have selected the contract of the 25-year-old Queenslander and he is in line to make his first Major League Baseball appearance since 2020 when he debuted with the Minnesota Twins.

Glendinning signs with new MLB team

West Australian Robbie Glendinning has reportedly signed a Minor League deal with the Kansas City Royals.

The 26-year-old infielder was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier in the week but snapped up quickly on a two-year deal by the Royals, according to Alec Lewis of The Athletic.

REPORT: Angels sign Whitefield to Minor League deal

The Los Angeles Angels have reportedly signed two-time Helms Award winner Aaron Whitefield to a Minor League deal.

SKOR North’s Darren Wolfson on Thursday morning reported Whitefield, who in 2020 became the 35th Australian to play MLB, had agreed to a deal with the Angels after electing free agency.

Dual Helms winner to play in Puerto Rico

Two-time Helms Award winner Aaron Whitefield will spend the Australian summer playing in Puerto Rico.

The Queenslander, who became Australia’s 35th Major League Baseball player in 2020, signed with Criollos de Caguas in the Puerto Rican Winter League.

Aces name Moylan as new manager

Melbourne has named former big leaguer Peter Moylan as its new manager ahead of the 2021/22 Australian Baseball League season.

The 42-year-old will replace Allan de San Miguel after the championship winning manager informed the club in March he would not return to the helm next summer.

Beardsley, Perkins lift Aces over Cavs in Game Three

The Melbourne Aces rode a strong outing from starter Tyler Beardsley and timely hitting from newcomer Kyle Perkins to top the Canberra Cavalry, 2-0, in game three at Melbourne Ballpark on Saturday night.

Beardsley picked up his first win of the season, while Perkins – a longtime member of the Canberra Cavalry – launched his first home run in Aces colours.

#AYC2020 U18 MVP impresses in ABL exhibition game

Swan Districts’ Maddux Stivey impressed in his first hit out in Perth colours during the Heat’s Australian Baseball League exhibition game against Brisbane’s Futures team on Friday night.

Stivey, the 2020 Australian Youth Championship U18 Most Valuable Player, struck out three in two scoreless innings as Perth won 11-3 at Empire Ballpark.

ABL Pitching Champion on the move to new club

Reigning Australian Baseball League Brett Sports Pitching Champion Dylan Unsworth will play for Auckland this season.

The 27-year-old starred for Perth last season and will bolster the Tuatara’s starting rotation in the seven-inning International Conference.

Heat reveal Knight replacement ahead of ABL season

Perth has announced Andy Kyle will return as the club’s manager for the next two Australian Baseball League seasons, replacing Brooke Knight.

Knight departed the Heat during the offseason due to the impact of COVID-19 and an increased workload but the four-time ABL winners will be in safe hands under Kyle.
