Braves survive Cats comeback in WASL 1

Braves survived a late rally to claim a 6-5 victory over Carine Cats in WA State League 1 action Sunday afternoon.

Braves raced out to 6-2 lead before Carine threatened to pinch the contest with a ninth inning rally which ultimately came up just short.

Heat bounce back to thump Giants in Adelaide hub

Perth picked up an important win over Adelaide at Dicolor Australia Stadium on Saturday night and got a glimpse into its future in the process.

Teenagers Will Sherriff and Maddux Stivey combined for four shutout innings and Robbie Glendinning blasted a three-run homer as the Heat improved their record to 5-4 with an 11-0 win in the Adelaide hub.

Heat dominate Giants, improve to 2-1

Perth jumped out to an early four-run lead and never looked back, adding regular runs to topple Adelaide 12-2 in the Australian Baseball League at Viticon Stadium on Wednesday.

Shane Sasaki and Tim Kennelly homered in the second, Nathan Wiles turned in an impressive start and the Heat piled on plenty of late runs to claim a second-straight win in the Brisbane hub.

Heat re-sign two-time Helms Award winner

Two-time Helms Award winner Tim Kennelly has re-signed with Perth and will front for an 11th Australian Baseball League season.

Kennelly, 33, passed 300 games in the modern-day ABL last season and claimed the Helms in 2012 and 2019.

Eagles thump Cubs, start WA State League 1 season with win

Morley scored early and often in a comprehensive 13-1 win over South Perth to start its WA State League 1 campaign on Saturday night.

The Eagles scored three runs in the top of the first and piled on 10 unanswered runs after the Cubs hit back with their solo tally in the bottom of the opening frame at Perth Harley-Davidson Ballpark.

Team Australia fall to Cuba in extras

Boral Team Australia suffered a heartbreaking extra-innings loss to Cuba in their Premier12 clash at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome on Thursday afternoon.

Yurisbel Gracial’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th propelled Cuba to a 3-2 victory in the Group C clash.

Two-time Helms Award winner returns for Perth

Dual Helms Award winner Tim Kennelly will return for a 10th Australian Baseball League season with Perth this summer.

The 32-year-old is coming off a dominant season where he was named Helms Award winner for the second time after previously claiming the accolade in 2012.

Kennelly, Reynolds honoured

Bite import Mikey Reynolds and Heat stalwart Tim Kennelly have taken out the Brett Brothers Batting Champion Award.

Reynolds and Kennelly become the first joint winners of the Batting Champion, after each receiving nine votes from opposition managers.

History: First joint Helms Award winners

For the first time in the history of Australian baseball, two men have been awarded the Brut Australian Baseball League’s most prestigious individual honour.

Markus Solbach has become the first pitcher since Wayne Lundgren in 2009/10 to win the Helms Award, while Tim Kennelly is the first player to win multiple Helms Awards*, following his 2011/12 honour.
