Doosan, Boral Team Australia to clash in Geelong

KBO champions Doosan Bears will face Boral Team Australia in a two-game series in Geelong next month as part of a three-week spring training camp.

The Bears will land today and train in Geelong until February 21 as they prepare to chase a seventh Korea Series title when their season gets underway in March.

Four burning questions for the remaining contenders

The Australian Baseball League playoff race was reduced to four teams last night as Canberra edged Perth 5-4 in the sudden-death Wildcard Game.

It means Brisbane and the Heat will not add to their equal league-leading four titles in the relaunched competition and we have a 75 per cent chance of a first-time champion.

Cavalry set up #ABLSF against Adelaide

Canberra has set up a best-of-three ABL Semi-Final against top seed Adelaide after ending Perth’s season with a thrilling 5-4 win in the Wildcard Game at The Fort at MIT Ballpark on Tuesday night. 

Back-to-back solo home runs from Robbie Podorsky and Cam Warner in the bottom of the seventh broke a 3-all deadlock and proved decisive as the Cavalry won their second-straight Wildcard game.

Rays close gap at top of GBL standings

Redlands has closed to within four games of Greater Brisbane League leaders Pine Hills after shutting out Windsor 4-0 at Holloway Field on Monday.

The Rays capitalised on the Lightning dropped a one-run ballgame over the weekend to trim the leader’s advantage with 12 games remaining.

Indians' finals charge continues after walking off Magpies

Goodwood continued to press its claims for a place in the South Australian Baseball League finals after a 4-3 walk-off win over fellow contenders Port Adelaide art Mortlock Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Indians overcame a 3-1 deficit to rally and record an important win when Ben Wigmore came off the bench to hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth.

#ABLWC preview: Canberra vs Perth

Canberra and Perth will look to stay alive and book a best-of-three series against Adelaide when they clash in the 2020 ABL Wildcard Game at The Fort at MIT Ballpark tonight.

The Cavs will be playing in their second-straight Wildcard Game after shutting out Melbourne in last season’s sudden-death contest, while the Heat are into their first one-off encounter after missing out on a top-two spot in the Southwest Division.

Schedule released for week one of ABL playoffs

Canberra and Perth will get the Australian Baseball League 2020 Playoffs underway when they clash in the Wildcard Game on Tuesday night at The Fort at MIT Ballpark.

The Cavs and Heat will meet from 7pm (local time) in the sudden-death contest with a best-of-three ABL Semi-Final against top-seeded Adelaide on the line.

Tuatara clinch playoff spot, eliminate Bandits

Josh Collmenter, Kent Blackstone and Kris Richards delivered when it mattered most to clinch Auckland’s first ABL playoff appearance and end Brisbane’s four-year reign on Saturday night.

Collmenter worked a complete game shutout, Blackstone broke the deadlock with a solo homer and Richards preserved the Tuatara’s lead with an amazing play at the wall to secure a 1-0 victory at North Harbour Stadium.

Heat keep alive hopes of avoiding ABLWC

Perth remains to chance to avoid the sudden-death ABL Wildcard Game after levelling its series against Melbourne with an 8-2 win at Perth Harley-Davidson Ballpark on Friday night.

The Heat fell behind early but recovered and rode five-run fifth to the first of three wins they need to end the regular season if they are to bypass Tuesday’s loser-goes-home contest.

Aces duo sign with MLB organisations

Melbourne duo Mitch Ellis and Cameron Gibbens have signed with MLB organisations, the Aces confirmed yesterday.

Ellis has signed with Kansas City as a pitcher and right-handed pitcher Gibbens has inked a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
