Cardinals awarded SABL premiership

Minor premiers Kensington have been crowned South Australian Baseball League champions.

Baseball South Australia on Friday confirmed the Cardinals were 2019/20 premiers under rule 8.3.3.1 following the cancellation of the SABL season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Baseball SA cancels rest of 2019/20 season

Baseball South Australia’s board has unanimously decided to cancel trainings and games for all its clubs and affiliations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The move is effective immediately, putting an end to the 2019/20 season.

Cardinals, Eagles, Saints claim SABL semis

Top-three sides Kensington, West Torrens and Sturt each prevailed in South Australian Baseball League semi-finals over the weekend.

Each of the three series went down to a third-and-deciding game as the Cardinals ended Port Adelaide’s season and the Eagles ousted Goodwood.

Magpies lock up last spot in SABL finals

Port Adelaide locked up the sixth – and last – spot in the South Australian Baseball League finals with a 3-1 win over Henley & Grange at War Memorial Oval on Sunday.

The Magpies took advantage of East Torrens falling to lowly Woodville, downing the Rams to leapfrog the Redsox into sixth spot.

Indians double up against Saints in SABL

Goodwood swept its South Australian Baseball League doubleheader against defending champions Sturt on Sunday to tighten the race at the top of the ladder.

The Indians prevailed 5-2 and 5-3 at Goodwood to improve to 20-9 and cement their place in the SABL top-six, leaving Port Adelaide and East Torrens to battle for the final spot.

Rams make statement with big SABL win over Kensington

Henley & Grange hammered fellow premiership contenders Kensington 13-2 away from home in the South Australian Baseball League on Sunday.

The Rams broke through with three runs in the third capped by James Bell’s two-runrun single before Seiichiro Suzuki and Griffin Weber added two-run singles in the fifth and seventh inning respectively to extend the lead.

Indians' finals charge continues after walking off Magpies

Goodwood continued to press its claims for a place in the South Australian Baseball League finals after a 4-3 walk-off win over fellow contenders Port Adelaide art Mortlock Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Indians overcame a 3-1 deficit to rally and record an important win when Ben Wigmore came off the bench to hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth.

Senators knock Rams off top with upset SABL win

Woodville has produced one of the upsets of the season to defeat Henley & Grange 3-2 in their midweek South Australian Baseball League clash on Tuesday night.

The Senators jumped the Rams, early scoring three runs in the third inning thanks to RBI singles from Nathan and Troy Nicholson.

Red Sox snap Indians' winning streak in SABL

East Torrens snapped Goodwood’s six-game winning streak with a 5-3 victory in the South Australian Baseball League on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Sox scored early, taking 3-1 lead on a pair of bases loaded walks before Mark Stewart added an RBI single in the seventh to make it 5-2.

Welch homers, Indians shut out Hawks in SABL

Stefan Welch homered as Goodwood shut out Southern Districts 8-0 in their South Australian Baseball League clash at Peregrine Park on Tuesday night.

Welch’s solo shot in the second gave the Indians the lead and they never looked back, riding strong pitching from Matt Watkins and Darren Fidge to a third win over the Hawks this season and sixth-straight overall.
