Mead homers, drives in four in AFL

South Australian Curtis Mead kept his 21st birthday celebrations rolling on Friday morning, cranking a 413-foot homer in a four-RBI Arizona Fall League performance.

Mead, who turned 21 on Tuesday, finished 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored as Scottsdale Scorpions snapped a seven-game losing streak with an 11-4 win over Mesa Solar Sox at Sloan Park.

Ellis perfect in AFL win over Mead's Scorpions

Victorian Mitch Ellis tossed a scoreless inning in Surprise Saguaros’ big Arizona Fall League win on Friday morning.

Ellis retired all three batters he faced, on just 11 pitches, as the Saguaros downed South Australian infielder Curtis Mead’s Scottsdale Scorpions 17-2 at Surprise Stadium.

Surprise! Ellis added to AFL roster

Victorian pitcher Mitch Ellis has been added to Surprise Saguaros’ Arizona Fall League roster.

The 26-year-old Kansas City Royals prospect is one of two Australians to take part in the 2021 edition of the six-team league which features elite young talent, including 17 of MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 Prospects, from each of the 30 MLB organisations.

Ellis wins championship with River Bandits

Victorian Mitch Ellis has won a championship in his first Minor League Baseball season.

The 26-year-old pitcher’s Quad Cities River Bandits wrapped up the High-A Central Championship with a 5-0 victory in game five on Monday.

Mead helps Hot Rods to series-opening win

South Australian Curtis Mead’s ninth-inning single helped Bowling Green Hot Rods seal a comeback win in the opening game of the High-A East Championship Series on Friday morning.

Mead’s single allowed two runs to score and the Hot Rods to hit the front as they secured a 10-8 over the Greensboro Grasshoppers at First National Bank Field.

Three Aussies to feature in Minor League playoffs

Three Australians are set to feature in the Minor League Baseball playoffs when they get underway tomorrow.

Queenslander Aaron Whitefield, South Australian Curtis Mead and Victorian Mitch Ellis will be after championships with their respective teams across best-of-five series.

Aces lock in Royals' Aussie pitching prospect

Kansas City pitching prospect Mitch Ellis will return for a second Australian Baseball League season with Melbourne.

Ellis joined the Aces last season after a campaign with Brisbane and was signed by the Royals in January as a pitcher.

Aces duo sign with MLB organisations

Melbourne duo Mitch Ellis and Cameron Gibbens have signed with MLB organisations, the Aces confirmed yesterday.

Ellis has signed with Kansas City as a pitcher and right-handed pitcher Gibbens has inked a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
