Experienced sports executive Paul Gonzalez has been appointed as the Australian Baseball League’s new general manager.
Gonzalez has had a long involvement in Australian baseball – on-and-off the field – and will be tasked with leading the ongoing growth of the ABL.

Melbourne Aces have added two of Australia’s mostly highly-rated players ahead of the 2022/23 Australian Baseball League season.
Two-time Helms Award winner Aaron Whitefield and former ABL Rookie of the Year Robbie Glendinning will both join the Aces as they chase a third-straight Claxton Shield.

17-year-old Genevieve Beacom stole the show as the Melbourne Aces took on the Adelaide Giants in the Melbourne Challenge over the weekend.
Beacom made her debut for the Aces on Saturday evening after signing on as a development player for the 2022/23 Australian Baseball League season.

South Australian Curtis Mead kept his 21st birthday celebrations rolling on Friday morning, cranking a 413-foot homer in a four-RBI Arizona Fall League performance.
Mead, who turned 21 on Tuesday, finished 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored as Scottsdale Scorpions snapped a seven-game losing streak with an 11-4 win over Mesa Solar Sox at Sloan Park.

Victorian Mitch Ellis tossed a scoreless inning in Surprise Saguaros’ big Arizona Fall League win on Friday morning.
Ellis retired all three batters he faced, on just 11 pitches, as the Saguaros downed South Australian infielder Curtis Mead’s Scottsdale Scorpions 17-2 at Surprise Stadium.

The Australian Baseball League will refocus its planning on making the 2022/23 season its biggest yet after deciding to abandon the 2021/22 campaign due to the ongoing challenges presented by the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Baseball Australia chief executive Glenn Williams said the decision was incredibly difficult to make but made with the league’s long-term success and sustainability in mind.

Victorian pitcher Mitch Ellis has been added to Surprise Saguaros’ Arizona Fall League roster.
The 26-year-old Kansas City Royals prospect is one of two Australians to take part in the 2021 edition of the six-team league which features elite young talent, including 17 of MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 Prospects, from each of the 30 MLB organisations.

Victorian Mitch Ellis has won a championship in his first Minor League Baseball season.
The 26-year-old pitcher’s Quad Cities River Bandits wrapped up the High-A Central Championship with a 5-0 victory in game five on Monday.
