#TBT: Reliving Welch's no-no through Sox eyes

The Australian Baseball League was still in its infancy on February 4, 2011, when it saw its historic first no-hitter – in the postseason of all places – as Sydney moved within a win of the Championship Series.

David Welch starred for the Blue Sox in an 8-0 win over Adelaide at Blacktown Olympic Park, striking out 10 and issuing just three walks without a hit in nine outstanding innings.

Baseball5's Youth Games debut delayed

Baseball5’s debut at the Youth Olympic Games has been put on hold after the International Olympic Committee and Dakar 2022 host nation Senegal agreed to postpone the event until 2026.

The decision comes as the coronavirus pandemic continues to cause widespread concern around much of the world and after it already forced a major reshuffle of the IOC’s calendar, including the postponement of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by a year.

USA Baseball chief executive Paul Seiler says he is looking forward to seeing the impact of his organisation’s Coaches Certification program on Australian baseball.

Baseball Australia last week rolled out the three-tiered USA Baseball model after a review of its previous accreditation last year found it was not providing contemporary knowledge, value for money and also lacked multimedia training resources to use on field.
