MLB and MLBPA agree to new CBA

The 2022 Major League Baseball regular season is set to start on April 7.

Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association reached an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement earlier today.

Hendriks named 2021 AL Reliever of the Year

West Australian Liam Hendriks has created history, becoming the first pitcher to claim the Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year award in consecutive seasons.

Hendriks, 32, was on Thursday morning named the 2021 winner in recognition of his dominant debut season with the Chicago White Sox.

Mead hammers first Arizona Fall League homer

South Australian Curtis Mead blasted his first Arizona Fall League homer on Saturday to help the Scottsdale Scorpions to a 4-3 win over the Glendale Desert Dogs.

Mead, the Tampa Bay Rays No. 14 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, hit a go-ahead three-run shot to opposite field in the seventh at Camelbank Ranch.

Hendriks shuts door on former team

Liam Hendriks slammed the door shut on the Oakland Athletics in his first meeting against his former team after signing with the Chicago White Sox in the offseason.

Hendriks struck out the side in the top of the ninth to help the White Sox complete a 5-2 win at Guaranteed Rate Field on Tuesday morning and improve their American League Central leading record to 69-50.

Wells strikes out seven in first MLB start

Newcastle’s Alexander Wells struck out seven in the first start of his Major League career on Thursday morning.

Wells was called up roughly 12 hours earlier by Baltimore – who had to sideline two players including slated starter Keegan Atkin due to COVID-19 protocols – and impressed in 5 2/3 innings as the Orioles lost to Tampa Bay 5-4 at Tropicana Field.

Thumbs down: baseball.com.au hit by Facebook news ban

Baseball.com.au’s Facebook page has been caught up in the tech giant restricting access to news in Australia.

Facebook on Thursday morning made the move to ban Australians from sharing or viewing local and international news content in response to the government’s proposed media bargaining laws, which would force major tech giants to pay Australian news outlets for their content.

Hendriks named to All-MLB Team

Liam Hendriks has been recognised once again for his stellar 2020 season by being named to the All-MLB Team.

Twelve months after being named in the All-MLB second team, the West Australian was included in the top team as one of two relief pitchers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series champions for the first time since 1988.

A two-run sixth and late insurance homer from Mookie Betts lifted the Dodgers to a 3-1 win over Tampa Bay in game six of the 2020 World Series at Globe Life Field.

Kiermaier homers in wild World Series game four

Former Canberra ABL import Kevin Kiermaier hit his second homer of the World Series and Tampa Bay walked off 8-7 in a wild game four in Arlington.

The Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers combined to score a run in a World Series-record eight straight half-innings ahead of Tampa scoring two runs with two out in the bottom of the ninth to knot the best-of-seven battle.
