History: First joint Helms Award winners

For the first time in the history of Australian baseball, two men have been awarded the Brut Australian Baseball League’s most prestigious individual honour.

Markus Solbach has become the first pitcher since Wayne Lundgren in 2009/10 to win the Helms Award, while Tim Kennelly is the first player to win multiple Helms Awards*, following his 2011/12 honour.

Nationally Identified Players revealed

Baseball Australia has revealed its list of Nationally Identified Players, aimed at ensuring competitive balance and promoting playing opportunities for Australians in the Brut Australian Baseball League.

The list of 36 players – which can expand to a maximum of 50 – will along with non-listed Australian players accrue negative points under new ABL roster rules.

Historic TV deal secured

Eleven Sports will broadcast a minimum of 40 games of the ABL regular season as well as all playoff games live into Taiwan as part of a history-making broadcast agreement.

Baseball Australia today announced a partnership with the network as the official broadcaster of the Australian Baseball League in Taiwan.

Oxspring backs introduction of Geelong-Korea to ABL

Very few Australians have a better understanding of Korean baseball than Chris Oxspring.

The Olympic silver medallist and Team Australia star forged a memorable career, which included stints in Major League Baseball, Nippon Professional Baseball (Japan) and most recently, the Korean Baseball Organisation.
