Searle shuts down Pirates with 13 Ks in Townsville

Dion Searle finished with 13 strikeouts as Taipans continued their perfect start to the Baseball Association Townsville season at Jabiru Park on Sunday.

Searle allowed two runs – both unearned – on two hits and four walks in 5 2/3 impressive innings as the Taipans powered past the Pirates 9-2.

Upset creates logjam at top of IBL standings

Northern Pirates stunned Wollongong to record its second win of the season on Saturday and create a logjam at the top of the Illawarra Baseball League standings.

The Pirates rallied from 2-0 down to prevail 6-2 at Cringila Park, recording their first win since July 25.

Rebels improve to 14-1 ahead of DBL final round

Tracy Village enters the final round of the Darwin Baseball League season with a 14-1 record after claiming two wins on Sunday.

The Rebels powered past Nightcliff 17-2 in their early game ahead of downing Palmerston 9-4 to complete a doubleheader sweep at Tracy Village Baseball Fields.

Heat reveal Knight replacement ahead of ABL season

Perth has announced Andy Kyle will return as the club’s manager for the next two Australian Baseball League seasons, replacing Brooke Knight.

Knight departed the Heat during the offseason due to the impact of COVID-19 and an increased workload but the four-time ABL winners will be in safe hands under Kyle.

South Aussie stars in Swiss semi-final series

South Australian Chris Horne helped Therwil Flyers go 2-0 up in their best-of-five Swiss National Liga A semi-final series against Zurich Barracudas overnight.

Horne went six innings after starting game two on the mound, striking out eight in a 5-4 win at Therwil Känelmatt.

Hendriks collects second win of 2020 as A's walk off

West Australian Liam Hendriks picked up his second win of the 2020 MLB season after his scoreless 10th inning paved the way for Oakland to claim a walk-off victory on Monday morning.

The 31-year-old retired all three batters he faced ahead of Mark Canha’s sacrifice fly lifting the A’s to a 5-4 walk-off win over the Los Angeles Angels at the Coliseum.

ABL fans set to be treated to massive January

Fans can expect a stack of action during the popular January school holiday period when the Australian Baseball League schedule is released next week.

Baseball Australia chief executive Cam Vale says a mix of games in the schedule could see the ABL played on 25 of 31 days in the opening month of 2021 as part of a condensed season.

Hendriks collects save, A's extend home win streak

West Australian Liam Hendriks collected his equal MLB-leading eighth save of the season after closing out Oakland’s seventh-straight home win on Thursday afternoon.

Hendriks retired all three batters he faced as the A’s triumphed 4-1 over Arizona at the Coliseum, improving to 17-8 on the season.

Thorpe works four frames in Twins' loss to Brewers

Victorian Lewis Thorpe worked four innings during Minnesota’s 9-3 loss to Milwaukee at Target Field on Thursday.

The lefty struck out three and allowed four runs on six hits and three walks in his first appearance since August 12.

Yep, one of the game’s brightest young stars Fernando Tatis Jr. did what he is paid to do and hit a grand slam … on a 3-0 pitch … up 10-3 … in the eighth inning.
