NSW catcher Burns signs with Cardinals

New South Welshman Jake Burns has become the latest member of Team Australia’s 2019 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup campaign to sign with a MLB organisation.

The 16-year-old catcher overnight put pen to paper with St. Louis in the US and will report to spring training with the Cardinals in 2020.

Roster, schedule revealed for Bendigo Challenge

Twelve members of last year’s WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup roster will be active for the BORAL® Australian Emeralds in next week’s Bendigo Challenge.

Baseball Australia today revealed 29 players would head to Bendigo to face a Japanese All-Star team in a seven-game series from October 2-6.

Bandits veteran signs on for 10th season

Brisbane’s modern-day Australian Baseball League games record-holder David Sutherland has committed to the Bandits for a 10th season.

The 34-year-old infielder has played 344 regular-season games in the relaunched ABL, more than everyone except Melbourne catcher Allan de San Miguel (354).

Choi lifts Rays to walk-off win over Yankees

Ji-Man Choi became the latest former Australian Baseball League import to blast a walk-off homer, lifting Tampa Bay to a 2-1 win over the New York Yankees at Tropicana Field.

A day after former Canberra import Anthony Alford went deep for his first big league homer as Toronto secured a 15-inning win over Baltimore, it was the past Adelaide star’s turn.

Rookie of the Year re-signs with Heat

Last season’s Australian Baseball League Rookie of the Year Robbie Glendinning has signed with Perth for the upcoming campaign.

The 23-year-old infielder will return for a third ABL season with the Heat after earning last year’s rookie honour after hitting .364 with 25 RBIs in 28 games.

Brisbane South crowned Queensland U18 Champs

Brisbane South has been crowned Queensland U18 State champions after overcoming Brisbane North in the gold medal game on Tuesday afternoon.

South rode a nine-run sixth inning to an 11-2 victory in a hard-fought contest at Narangba Baseball Club.

Surfers top Windsor in GBL opener

Surfers Paradise rode a strong start from Josh Warner and steady offence to a 10-1 win over Windsor in their Greater Brisbane League season-opener on Sunday.

Twelve months after starting their own title defence with six-straight losses, Surfers took down the 2018/19 champions 10-1 at Sir Bruce Small Park.

Alford's first big league homer comes at perfect time

Former Canberra import Anthony Alford had not homered in his first 29 MLB games – he found the perfect time to change that.

The Toronto outfielder went deep in the 15th inning as the Blue Jays secured a 11-10 walk-off win over Baltimore at Rogers Centre this afternoon (Australian time).

Emeralds set for return to Bendigo

The Emeralds, presented by Boral, will bring international women’s baseball to Bendigo in October when they face a team from Japan at Strathfieldsaye Recreational Reserve.

Australia’s national women’s team will play a seven-game series against a Japanese All-Star team from October 2-6.

Two-time Helms Award winner returns for Perth

Dual Helms Award winner Tim Kennelly will return for a 10th Australian Baseball League season with Perth this summer.

The 32-year-old is coming off a dominant season where he was named Helms Award winner for the second time after previously claiming the accolade in 2012.

Blacktown, Greenway go 2-0 in NSW Women's comp

Blacktown and Greenway powered to big wins on the weekend and remain the only undefeated teams after two rounds of the NSW Women’s Baseball League first grade season.

Workers took down Rouse Hill 25-0 at Laybutt Reserve and the Giants defeated Ryde 13-1 at ELS Hall Park on Saturday to improve to 2-0.
