Big fifth helps Japan All-Stars past Australia

A seven-run fifth inning has propelled the Japan All-Stars to a 9-2 win over the Boral Australian Emeralds at Strathfieldsaye Recreation Reserve on Saturday afternoon.

Japan scored runs in the third and fourth before blowing game six of the 2019 Bendigo Challenge open with the big inning as they secured a fifth-straight win.

Late runs sink Emeralds in Bendigo

Japan All-Stars scored three unanswered runs to send the Boral Australian Emeralds crashing to a second-straight loss at the 2019 Bendigo Challenge.

Runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth handed Australia a 5-3 loss at Bendigo’s Strathfieldsaye Recreation Reserve in game one of a doubleheader on Friday.

Japan All-Stars hit back with big win

The Boral® Australian Emeralds have been overpowered by the Japan All-Stars in game two of the 2019 Bendigo Challenge at Strathfieldsaye Recreation Reserve on Thursday afternoon.

Australia took the opening game 8-5 on Wednesday but were no match in game two as Japan’s offence fired it to a 16-0 win.

Emeralds, Japan All-Stars spread Baseball in Bendigo

The BORAL® Australian Emeralds and Japan All-Stars have taken time out of their busy 2019 Bendigo Challenge schedule to promote baseball to the local community.

The two teams put rivalries aside to conduct a community clinic with more than 100 people in attendance at Strathfieldsaye Primary School this morning.

A's, Hendriks bow out in AL Wild Card game

Liam Hendriks’ stunning 2019 season has come to an end after Oakland was outclassed by Tampa Bay 5-1 in the American League Wild Card Game at the Oakland Coliseum this afternoon.

Hendriks worked a scoreless ninth but by that stage the A’s were three outs from an MLB record ninth-straight loss in a sudden-death playoff contest.

Aces lock in 19-year-old infielder

Melbourne has confirmed infielder Jarryd Dale will return to the Aces for a fourth Australian Baseball League season.

Dale, 19, has racked up 95 games for Melbourne across the past three seasons and put together an impressive Minor League campaign in the offseason.

Former Rookie of the Year re-signs with Heat

Perth has secured the services of 2017/18 Australian Baseball League Rookie of the Year Jess Williams for the upcoming season.

The 20-year-old Milwaukee prospect has played 72 games for the Heat across three seasons and averaged .175 with seven RBIs last summer as he adapted to a new role.

Orioles start Vic Summer League title defence in style

Blackburn started its Victorian Summer Baseball League defence with an impressive 10-5 win over Sandringham at Jack Guiliano Field on Sunday.

The Orioles jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and did not look back, led by three RBIs from Jacob Evans and four shutout innings from Blake Hodgson.

Emeralds strike first in 2019 Bendigo Challenge

The Boral® Australian Emeralds have struck first at the 2019 Bendigo Challenge, downing the Japan All-Stars 8-5 at Strathfieldsaye Recreation Reserve on Wednesday afternoon.

Australia fell behind early but erased the deficit with a three-run third before taking the lead an inning later.
