Queenslander Luisa Gauci has accepted a baseball scholarship to Green River College and will create history when she joins the Gators for the 2021/22 season.
Gauci, 20, will become the first woman on Green River’s baseball roster and to play in the Northwest Athletic Conference.

Melbourne are back-to-back Australian Baseball League champions after overpowering Perth 9-2 in Friday night’s Championship Game at Melbourne Ballpark.
Tyler Beardsley provided a strong start on the mound and the Aces’ offence did plenty of damage with two outs to secure Victoria’s 24th Claxton Shield.

The Claxton Shield will be awarded to the winner of Melbourne’s clash with Perth tonight after it was announced Victoria would head into a five-day lockdown from 11.59pm.
While the Victorian Government’s advice permitted professional sports taking place without fans in attendance Baseball Australia chief executive Cam Vale said there was an obligation to limit the impact of the lockdown and subsequent introduction of restrictions around the country on players and officials.

Mikey Reynolds drove in three runs against his former team and Steven Kent tossed a gem to keep Canberra’s Australian Baseball League season alive on Friday.
Kent struck out six and did not surrender a run until the sixth as the Cavalry ended Adelaide’s season with a 3-2 win at Melbourne Ballpark.

This weekend’s Australian Women’s Baseball Showcase presented by Boral has been postponed due to the escalating COVID-19 situation in Melbourne.
Baseball Australia this morning made the decision to postpone the two games scheduled between the Victoria Aces and Brisbane Bandits at Melbourne Ballpark for Saturday and Sunday as the number of cases in Victoria rose again overnight.

Melbourne will face Perth on Friday for a spot in the ABL Championship Game after overcoming an early offensive burst from Canberra with a record-breaking performance of its own on Thursday night.
The Cavs belted back-to-back homers and added a third run in the first but the Aces fought back to triumph 19-4 behind an ABL postseason single-game record eight home runs at Melbourne Ballpark.

The Heat crushed seven home runs and set a new ABL postseason record for runs in a game in a 26-6 win over the Giants to book their spot in tomorrow’s Qualifying Final.
