Jack Kelly’s strong start and a late offensive surge propelled Manly to victory over Central Firebirds at the 2021 Australian Little League Division II Championship in Lismore on Wednesday.
Kelly struck out three and allowed just one earned run in four innings and Manly piled on 11 runs across the final three innings to seal a 13-3 win on diamond four at Albert Park Baseball Complex.

Tyler Anderson has been appointed as Baseball Australia’s pitching coordinator.
The West Australian, who is currently a pitching coach with Philadelphia affiliate Clearwater Threshers, is set to lead pitching development across the country as part of the role.

Kayo Sports, Australia’s leading sports streaming service, has extended its support of the Australian Little League Championship and will show games on each day of the 2021 event in Lismore.
Fifteen games – including the gold and bronze medal matchups – will be streamed live and free on Kayo Freebies from June 9-14.

It comes after Southern Mariners and Twins were forced out of the event after the Victorian government announced on Wednesday that Greater Melbourne would stay locked down another seven days until 11.59pm on June 10.

West Australian Liam Hendriks has been named the American League’s Reliever of the Month for May.
Hendriks appeared in 13 games for the Chicago White Sox in May, converting eight saves in as many opportunities.

Under the government’s announcement Greater Melbourne will stay locked down at least another seven days until 11.59pm on June 10.

Baseball Australia is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Victoria and working with stakeholders to see if the state’s two qualifiers will be able to take part in next week’s Australian Little League Championship in Lismore.
Victoria’s seven-day lockdown is set to end at 11.59pm on Thursday but yesterday Acting Premier James Merlino refused to rule out extending restrictions after 11 new cases were linked to the outbreak over a 24-hour period.

West Australian Liam Hendriks converted save opportunities in both games of the Chicago White Sox doubleheader sweep of Baltimore on Sunday morning.
Hendriks became the first White Sox pitcher to earn a save in both games of a doubleheader since Bobby Jenks on September 4, 2010, at Boston.

The rest of the 2021 Australian Intermediate League Championship in Mildura has been cancelled after the Victorian Government announced the state would head into lockdown on Thursday.
A state-wide seven-day lockdown will begin at 11.59pm on Thursday following a growing number of COVID-19 cases, including 12 new infections overnight.
