More than 35 of the country’s rising female prospects have been invited to the 2022 Australian Youth Women’s Baseball Invitational in Adelaide.
Baseball Australia today released a list of 37 athletes who will take part in the April 16-20 invitational at West Beach.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put a line through a January Australian Youth Championship for a second-straight year, but a revised pathways calendar for 2022 has been revealed to ensure the country’s underage players still have plenty of opportunities for their development.
Baseball Australia today announced the Australian Youth Championship would not go ahead in January due to the ongoing uncertainty caused by the current COVID situation and border restrictions across the country.

Team Australia has named a U-18 squad on the back of last week’s cancellation of its would-have-been final selection camp due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
A 38-player squad has been named, featuring 14 players from Queensland, 12 from New South Wales, five from both Victoria and Western Australia, along with one player from both the Australian Capital Territory and South Australia.

Tyler Anderson has been appointed as Baseball Australia’s pitching coordinator.
The West Australian, who is currently a pitching coach with Philadelphia affiliate Clearwater Threshers, is set to lead pitching development across the country as part of the role.

Curtis Deboy has been appointed as Baseball Australia’s national education manager.
The role, which was created through a joint initiative with the state associations, will see the digitisation of training and accreditation for umpires and scorers, while also building on the USA Baseball platform for coach education adopted in July.

Baseball Queensland has announced details of its National Showcase Series, finalising the full slate for next January’s Australian Youth Championship replacement content.
Following the cancellation of the 2021 Australian Youth Championship the localised National Showcase Series content will provide an opportunity for U-16 and U-18 talent to go head-to-head and be profiled to ensure exposure to scouts.

The 2021 Australian Youth Championship has been cancelled and will be replaced with a range of localised content to ensure the development of the country’s up-and-coming talent is not negatively impacted.
Baseball Australia and the state and territory bodies have unanimously agreed to the move – which comes in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic – following an extensive review which included consultation of athletes and teams that would likely have featured in the event.

Baseball Australia today announced it has secured key technology partnerships with Rapsodo and Blast Motion which will drive enhanced development for the nation’s up-and-coming talent.
