Queenslander Bidois inks deal with Pirates

Queenslander Brandan Bidois has signed with Pittsburgh after impressing in Team Australia’s fourth-place finish at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in South Korea this month.

The right-hander picked up two wins and allowed just two earned runs with nine strikeouts in 13 innings during starts against China and Japan.

Wells slated to start game three for Baysox

Newcastle’s Alex Wells is slated to start for Bowie in game three of its Eastern League Championship Series battle with Trenton tomorrow morning.

The Baysox earlier today levelled the best-of-five series with a 7-2 win at ARM & HAMMER Park.

A's top Astros, Hendriks sets new record

Two days ago Oakland was thumped 15-0 in its series-opener against Houston at Minute Maid Park.

Fast forward and they have bounced back with a pair of wins over the AL West-leading Astros, including a 5-3 triumph closed out by West Australian Liam Hendriks today.

Baseball's momentum builds in Tasmania

Baseball’s growth in Tasmania took another step forward on Tuesday with more than 60 primary school students getting their first taste of the sport.

The Penguin District Primary School welcomed North West Tasmania Baseball League coordinator Andrew Barton for an Aussie T-Ball session as part of the Sporting Schools program.

Nilsson returns as Bandits chase five straight

David Nilsson will return as Brisbane manager for the Bandits’ chase of a fifth-straight Claxton Shield.

The 2019/20 Australian Baseball League will mark the former big leaguer’s six-straight at the helm of Brisbane after previously leading the Bandits during their 2010/11 campaign.

Several former ABL stars shone bright in various Championship Series around the US this morning as the Minor Leagues near their end.

Former Canberra outfielder Buddy Reed played an instrumental role in Amarillo taking a 1-0 lead over Tulsa in the Texas League Championship Series.

Jethawks triumph in Townsville grand final

Jethawks rode a complete game and two RBIs from Tom Wall to victory in the Baseball Association Townsville grand final at Jabiru Park on Sunday.

The Jethawks overturned a qualifying final loss to the Avengers a fortnight ago to prevail 5-3 against the reigning premiers in Townsville’s top-tier decider.

Hendriks notches save 19 as A's top Tigers

Liam Hendriks collected his 19th save of 2019 as Oakland sent Detroit crashing to its 100th loss of the season at the Coliseum this morning.

The West Australian retired all three batters he faced in the top of the ninth as the A’s prevailed 3-1 to improve to 84-59.

Team Australia fall on late homer in bronze medal game

Team Australia was unable to cap off an impressive WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup with a bronze medal, falling to South Korea 6-5 in the third-place playoff on Sunday afternoon.

Australia fell behind early but bravely fought on, taking the lead in the eighth before succumbing to the hosts on a ninth-inning homer at Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark.

GAMEDAY: Team Australia chase bronze against Korea

Team Australia will look to claim its first WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup medal since 2010 when it faces hosts South Korea in the 2019 bronze medal game from 1pm AEST.

Australia clinched its spot in the third-place playoff with a stunning 4-1 win over world number one Japan yesterday and will be hoping to inflict a second defeat of the World Cup on South Korea at Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark.
