Aussie Pirate hits unique first pro homer

New South Welshman Solomon Maguire hit his first professional homer on Saturday morning, but not how most would imagine.

The Pittsburgh prospect legged out an inside-the-park homer, rather than clear the outfield fence, for Pirates Black during a 5-4 loss to Pirates Gold in a Florida Complex League clash.

Aussie Pittsburgh prospect links up with Bandits

Pittsburgh prospect Brandan Bidois will front for Brisbane during the 2020/21 Australian Baseball League season.

The 19-year-old Queenslander made his ABL debut with the Bandits as an infielder two seasons ago but since signed with the Pirates as a pitcher following a strong showing at the 2019 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup for Boral Team Australia.

Team Australian infielder re-signs with Heat

Perth has secured the signature of Boral Team Australia infielder Robbie Glendinning ahead of the upcoming season.

The 24-year-old Pittsburgh prospect is a career .343 hitter 89 regular-season ABL games and averaged .335 with seven homers and 35 RBIs last season.

Highly-touted Aussie signs with Blue Sox

Sydney’s secured the services of one of Australia’s brightest young prospects for the 2020/21 Australian Baseball League season.

The Blue Sox late yesterday announced outfielder Solomon Maguire, a product of the Castle Hill and Baulkham Hills baseball clubs, would join the club this season.

Maguire becomes latest Aussie Pirate

New South Welshman Solomon Maguire has signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The outfielder, a product of the Castle Hill and Baulkham Hills baseball clubs, inked his first professional contract in the US.

Queenslander Bidois inks deal with Pirates

Queenslander Brandan Bidois has signed with Pittsburgh after impressing in Team Australia’s fourth-place finish at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in South Korea this month.

The right-hander picked up two wins and allowed just two earned runs with nine strikeouts in 13 innings during starts against China and Japan.
