Berti's catch named MLB's No. 3 Play of the Week

We’re getting used to this aren’t we?

Two weeks ago, former Canberra Cavalry utility man Jon Berti was one of three former ABL stars featured in MLB’s Top-10 Plays of the Week. And, well, he’s done it again.

Dixon's 15th bomb sparks Tigers comeback

It had been 36 days since Brandon Dixon last homered on 31 July, but on Friday morning (Australian time) he left the yard for the 15th time to spark the Detroit Tigers’ comeback win over the Royals in Kansas City.

Dixon, the former Adelaide outfielder, has had an up-and-down season for the Tigers. He finished the month of August hitting just .227 with 38 strikeouts; more than any other month this year.

Acuña chasing history, eyeing MLB's 40/40 club

When Ronald Acuña Jr. landed in Melbourne ahead of the 2016/17 ABL, we knew he was special. The then 18-year-old Venezuelan native was MLB.com’s No. 1 prospect in the Atlanta Braves organisation, and the No. 6 prospect in all of Minor League Baseball.

He didn’t disappoint

Former Bandits 2B Sugiya holds back laughter after strikeout mishap

Remember Kenshi Sugiya?

If not, he played second base for the Brisbane Bandits during their third of four-straight ABL titles in 2017/18, went by “Kenny” around the clubhouse, always wore a smile and made some pretty ridiculous plays.

ABL Trio Feature in MLB's Top-10 Plays of the Week

Three former ABL stars have featured in MLB’s Top-10 Plays of the Week for the week of 12-19 August.

No surprise to anyone who watched Melbourne Aces games in 2016-17, former Aces outfielder Ronald  Acuña Jr. shows up at No. 9 throwing out New York’s Todd Fraizer who was attempting to score from second base on a single to left field.

ABL alumni add to Detroit's pain

It has been a miserable season for Detroit, which sits last in MLB with a 37-84 record.

And in the Tigers’ past two games former ABL imports have added more pain, landing walk-off blows for Tampa Bay.
