Community sport – including games and training – will be temporarily cancelled in South Australia after the state government today reintroduced COVID-19 restrictions.
Premier Steven Marshall this afternoon announced a number of measures including calling off all community sport across the state from midnight following an outbreak of 17 cases in the northern suburbs.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation has postponed the Final Olympic Qualifier for a second time due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
WBSC overnight confirmed the event, which was originally scheduled for April 1-5 in Taiwan, will no longer take place from June 17-21.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have been postponed and will take place no later than the northern hemisphere summer of 2021.
The International Olympic Committee overnight announced it had decided, in consultation with the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee and Japan Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, to postpone the games to safeguard the health of the athletes and the community.

Baseball Western Australia’s board has made the decision to cease all baseball activity in the state until further notice in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement released on Wednesday afternoon Baseball WA said it had “adopted further changes to upcoming baseball activities and events to comply with government mandates surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and prioritise the health and safety of the community”.

Baseball South Australia’s board has unanimously decided to cancel trainings and games for all its clubs and affiliations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The move is effective immediately, putting an end to the 2019/20 season.

Baseball New South Wales has become the latest state body to announce a cease on all baseball activity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It announced this morning all baseball activities in the state between today and April 30 would be postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Baseball Queensland, Baseball Victoria, Baseball Canberra and Baseball Northern Territory have announced the postponement of all baseball activity for at least the next 21 days due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The three governing bodies earlier today announced they and their member clubs and associations would cease all activity for 21 days.

Major League Baseball’s opening day has been pushed back even further following recommendations of a US-wide halt of any gatherings consisting of more than 50 people for the next eight weeks in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
Opening Day, which was originally scheduled for Thursday, March 26, had already been postponed for two weeks as of last Thursday.

Major League Baseball announced Friday – after consultation with all 30 teams – the cancellation of all remaining Spring Training games and a postponement of the MLB regular season due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.
