Murphy hails training camp a success

It does not get much tougher than facing the three-time defending champions first up.

But Australian WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup manager Brian Murphy says his young troops enter tomorrow’s clash with the US up for the challenge after a highly-successful training camp in Taiwan.

Campbell returns for a fourth season with the Blue Sox on the back of a career year.

Northern Metros chase history in Livermore

Twelve months after making history as Australia Region’s first representative at the Intermediate (50/70) Baseball World Series, the Northern Metros are set for a Livermore return.

The Metros left Perth today ahead of a long trip to California as they chase another slice of history.

Wingrove homers in one-run GCL loss

Rixon Wingrove’s team-leading fourth home run of the season was not enough to lift GCL Phillies West to victory earlier today.

Wingrove went deep to put Phillies West up 2-0 in the top of the sixth but GCL Yankees West rallied late to record a 4-3 win at Yankee Complex.

Aces re-sign Kennedy for 2019/20 ABL season

Melbourne has signed left-handed pitcher Jon Kennedy for the 2019/20 Australian Baseball League season.

The 24-year-old Victorian returns to the Aces for an eighth season boasting a career ERA of 5.05 in the ABL.

Perseverance pays off for Noel, Suns

When Swan Hills fell to Cronulla in the 2015 Australian Little League Championship gold medal game, manager Arnie Noel had a simple message for his team.

“We want to be good when we’re 17 or 18 – that’s when good things happen in baseball.”

Surfers Paradise have appointed Kevin Fenn as manager ahead of the 2019/20 Greater Brisbane League season.

He will take the helm after championship-winning manager Matt Corbitt announced he was moving to Cairns for study and work commitments.

Aussies ready for #U12WorldCup powerhouses

Head coach Brian Murphy says Australia enters its WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup “superpower group” in Taiwan with nothing to lose.

Australia will square off against three of the top-five ranked nations from the 2017 U-12 World Cup, starting with three-time defending champions the US on Friday.

Recalled Thorpe records first win

Recalled earlier in the day, Lewis Thorpe wasted no time making an impact in his second stint with Minnesota.

The left-hander recorded his first big league win in just his second appearance as the Twins took down the American League-leading Yankees 8-6 at Target Field.
