Team Australia earn spot in bronze medal game

Team Australia will play for bronze at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup after overcoming Japan 4-1 on Saturday afternoon to secure their place in the third-place playoff.

They will face South Korea, who they beat 1-0 last Saturday, at midday (local time) tomorrow after finishing the super round with an impressive victory at Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark II.

Australia no match for Lin, Chinese Taipei

Team Australia’s offence had no answers to Chinese Taipei starter Lin Yu-Min as it crashed to a 12-0 loss at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup on Friday afternoon.

Australia took until the fifth inning to notch its first hit against Lin as its super round record dropped to 2-2 ahead of tomorrow’s second round finale against Japan.

Dixon's 15th bomb sparks Tigers comeback

It had been 36 days since Brandon Dixon last homered on 31 July, but on Friday morning (Australian time) he left the yard for the 15th time to spark the Detroit Tigers’ comeback win over the Royals in Kansas City.

Dixon, the former Adelaide outfielder, has had an up-and-down season for the Tigers. He finished the month of August hitting just .227 with 38 strikeouts; more than any other month this year.

Blue Sox re-sign 2018/19 ABL reliever of the year

Sydney has re-signed 2018/19 Australian Baseball League Reliever of the Year Todd van Steensel for the upcoming season.

Van Steensel will front for a 10th season with the Blue Sox and become the first Sydney pitcher to 100 regular-season games in the modern-day ABL in his third outing of the campaign.

Thomson's touch helps Muckdogs collect coveted award

Batavia’s Dwyer Stadium was recognised as the best field in New York-Penn League earlier today.

And Australian groundskeeper Cooper Thomson played a key role in the Muckdogs collecting the coveted award for the first time in their 80-year history.

Team Australia push US all the way in Super Round

The US have been crowned champions at the past four WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cups but on Thursday afternoon Team Australia went toe-to-toe with the much vaunted junior program.

Australia took the US into the ninth all square before falling 2-1 in their opening game of the super round at Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark II.

Giants re-sign young starting pitcher

The Adelaide Giants have re-signed 24-year-old starting pitcher Michael Gahan for the upcoming Australian Baseball League season.

Gahan made his ABL debut with Adelaide last summer, going 3-3 with a 4.22 ERA in 10 starts.

Wingrove selected in GCL All-Star Team

Novocastrian Rixon Wingrove has been selected in the Gulf Coast League’s All-Star Team following a stellar season in the US.

The 19-year-old was named at first base in the All-Star Team after leading the rookie-level league with 37 RBIs in 48 games.

Team Australia's #U18WorldCup super round schedule revealed

Team Australia will face the US in its opening super round game at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in South Korea tomorrow.

Australia will face off with the four-time defending champions from midday local time (1pm AEST, 12.30pm AEST, 11am AWST) at Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark II after securing their spot in the super round with a thrilling 7-6 win over Canada earlier today.

Australia punch super round ticket in #U18WorldCup epic

Team Australia remains in the hunt for a medal at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup after overcoming Canada to secure its passage to the super round on Wednesday afternoon.

Australia fell behind after giving up four runs in the fifth but hit back in the must-win clash to secure a thrilling 7-6 victory at Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark II.

Work progressing at Auckland's North Harbour Stadium

After breaking ground on a $2 million redevelopment of Auckland’s North Harbour Stadium in May, the Auckland Tuatara announced today that the outfield extension and wall construction will be completed soon.

In total, over 3,000 seats have been removed from the stadium, which has primarily been used for Rugby since opening in 1997.
