Hendriks' streak comes to an end

All good things must come to an end – even an All-Star’s career-best scoreless streak.

Liam Hendriks gave up his first run since June 5 as Minnesota recorded a walk-off 7-6 win over Oakland at Target Field this morning (Australian time).

Shepherd pitches in for Tigers win

Zac Shepherd’s transition to pitching took another step forward as the Connecticut Tigers claimed a 3-2 walk-off win over the Brooklyn Cyclones in the New York-Penn League this morning.

The Sydney Blue Sox and Team Australia infielder set new personal best for strikeouts and innings pitched, punching out four batters in three scoreless frames at Dodd Stadium.

Twins Alex and Lachlan Wells both turned in six scoreless frames in Minor League games nearly 1500kms away this morning (Australian time) as their respective teams picked up wins.

Phillies add another Aussie prospect

Victorian Chris Burke has become the latest Australian to join the Philadelphia MLB organisation.

The 17-year-old catcher’s signing was confirmed today, making him the seventh Australian in the Phillies’ farm system.

Wingrove, Hendrickson star in Phillies West win

Rixon Wingrove drove in six runs and reliever Josh Hendrickson collected the win as the GCL Phillies West overpowered GCL Tigers East 14-5 this morning.

Newcastle-born Wingrove collected three hits for the third time in his past seven games to help Phillies West improve to 14-3.

Wells matches longest pro outing

Alex Wells matched his longest professional start, cruising through eight innings, to guide the Bowie Baysox to a 4-2 win over Harrisburg Senators.

Wells collected his eighth win of the season and maintained his Eastern League-leading 1.95 ERA by allowing a pair of runs on four hits at Prince George’s Stadium on Tuesday morning (Australian time).

McGrath fires seven scoreless in Double A

Daniel McGrath tossed seven scoreless innings but it was not enough for Portland to down New Hampshire in their Eastern League contest this morning.

McGrath gave up four hits, two walks and struck out five in a 2-0 loss at Delta Dental Stadium in New Hampshire.

PM visits Cronulla ahead of #LLBWS

Prime Minister Scott Morrison visited the Cronulla Little League team today ahead of their trip to the US for the Little League World Series next month.

Cronulla will represent Australia Region for a second time at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, from August 15-25.

Hendriks set to become third Aussie MLB All-Star

West Australian Liam Hendriks is set to become the third Australian to feature in the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

The Oakland Athletics relief pitcher will line up for the American League in Cleveland on Wednesday morning (Australian time) after being added to their roster as an injury replacement over the weekend.

Wells rides monsoon to first Minor League complete game

With the help of a tropical monsoon, New South Welshman Alex Wells notched his first Minor League complete game on Sunday morning (Australian time).

Wells worked five one-run innings as his Bowie Baysox completed a 3-1 victory over the Harrisburg Senators in their Eastern League contest at Prince George’s Stadium.
