New Melbourne manager Allan de San Miguel is confident the Aces have put together a roster capable of defending their Australian Baseball League title this summer.
Melbourne lost a stack of experience following last season’s Claxton Shield success with de San Miguel, former big leaguers Luke Hughes and Peter Moylan, along with veteran pitcher Dushan Ruzic all retiring.

Highly-touted Australian pitching prospect Daniel McGrath will line up for Melbourne this Australian Baseball League season after missing last summer’s title run.
The 26-year-old lefty reached Triple A in Boston’s farm system in 2019 and will return to the Aces for a seventh season with his hometown club.

The 25-year-old was selected as the left-handed starter in Red Sox All-Star team following an outstanding season, predominantly with Double-A Portland.

The left-hander scattered six hits, issued three walks and struck out two as Pawtucket fell 5-3 to Lehigh Valley at McRoy Stadium.

The Sea Dogs prevailed 2-1 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium as the lefty struck out eight in seven one-run innings.

Daniel McGrath outdueled the number one overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft to lead Portland to a 2-0 win over Erie in the Eastern League this morning.
Left-hander McGrath went toe-to-toe with Detroit Tigers’ prospect Casey Mize for six innings before the 22-year-old SeaWolves’ starter was replaced having allowed the only run of the game at Hadlock Field.

Victorian Daniel McGrath tossed eight scoreless innings as Portland fell to Harrisburg 1-0 in extra-innings this morning.
The Sea Dogs’ lefty continued his red-hot run, striking out six and giving up just two hits and a walk, but lacked support from his offence in a tough loss.

Daniel McGrath tossed seven scoreless innings but it was not enough for Portland to down New Hampshire in their Eastern League contest this morning.
McGrath gave up four hits, two walks and struck out five in a 2-0 loss at Delta Dental Stadium in New Hampshire.
