Team Australia's #U18WorldCup super round schedule revealed

Team Australia will face the US in its opening super round game at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in South Korea tomorrow.

Australia will face off with the four-time defending champions from midday local time (1pm AEST, 12.30pm AEST, 11am AWST) at Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark II after securing their spot in the super round with a thrilling 7-6 win over Canada earlier today.

Australia's super round hopes take hit

Team Australia’s hopes of advancing to the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup super round have taken a hit after falling 4-3 to the Netherlands in Gijang on Tuesday afternoon.

Australia must now overcome Canada in tomorrow’s rescheduled game and hope other results go its way in a congested Group A to reach the tournament’s final six.

Williams collects first Triple-A hit in loss

West Australian Jess Williams collected his first Triple-A hit and RBI in San Antonio’s season-finale this morning.

Williams’ two-run single in the top of the fourth put the Missions up 3-0 before they eventually fell 6-5 in the 13th to Nashville at First Tennessee Park.

Chace Numata passes away

Former Melbourne Aces import Chace Numata has passed away.

The Numata family said in a statement released by Double-A Erie this morning (Australian time) the 27-year-old had succumbed to injuries sustained in a skateboarding accident last Friday.

Australia and Cuba sign wide-ranging MoU

Australia and Cuba are a step closer to contesting regular international baseball as part of an ongoing commitment between the two nations announced over the weekend.

The federations will work together to introduce regular series for national teams and grow Baseball5 in Australia after signing a memorandum of understanding in Havana, Cuba, on Saturday morning following ongoing discussions.

POSTPONED: Australia and Canada clash rained out

Team Australia and Canada’s vital WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup encounter has been postponed after persistent rain at Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark.

The game will be made up on Wednesday’s originally scheduled rest day with the time to be confirmed.

The pair – along with South Korea and Nicaragua – are locked up on two wins after three days of the U-18 event in South Korea.

McGrath goes seven in first Triple-A start

Victorian Daniel McGrath worked seven innings, allowing three runs, in his first career Triple-A start this morning.

The left-hander scattered six hits, issued three walks and struck out two as Pawtucket fell 5-3 to Lehigh Valley at McRoy Stadium.

Australia's offence surges in big win over China

Team Australia’s pitching had been the backbone of its opening two WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup games in South Korea.

On Sunday, Australia’s offence came to the party in a 13-2 Group A win over China at Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark III.

Australia top South Korea in pitching duel

Team Australia has bounced back from a first-up loss at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup to topple hosts South Korea 1-0 on Saturday night.

Australia overturned its one-run loss to Nicaragua on day one, overcoming the hosts in a hard-fought pitching duel at Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark.

Sherriff stars as Australia falls 3-2 to Nicaragua

Starting pitcher William Sherriff spun a gem but a two-out rally by Nicaragua in the top of the ninth sent Team Australia crashing to a 3-2 defeat in its WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup opener on Friday afternoon.

Sherriff struck out nine in eight one-run innings but Nicaragua broke a 1-all tie on his exit before holding off Australia in a hard-fought contest at Gijang-Hyundai Dream Ballpark III.
