Victoria improve to 2-0 at #AWBC2022
Victoria overcame an early deficit to topple Western Australia and secure a 2-0 start to the 2022 Australian Women’s Baseball Championship on Friday.
The defending champions scored six runs in the fourth and went on to complete a 12-3 win on diamond one after shutting out Australian Capital Territory earlier in the day.

Bronwyn Gell’s RBI-double levelled the score in the fourth.
Abbey Kelly singled to give Victoria its first lead of the game.
They added four more runs, including two on singles from Morgan Doty and Allie Bebbere.
Victoria added two insurance runs in the fifth.
Gell finished with five RBIs.
Gabby Bevan provided Victoria with a strong relief outing.
Bevan struck out three in 3 2/3 scoreless innings.
Jamie Bastian recorded two strikeouts in the seventh to close out the win.
Earlier, WA jumped to a 3-0 lead.
Lead Cornish singled after a long at-bat to open the scoring in the first.
Western Australia doubled its lead on a wild pitch before going ahead 3-0 in the second on an error.
Gell delivered a two-run, two-out double in the bottom of the second to start Victoria’s comeback.
Victoria will have a day off on Saturday ahead of taking on New South Wales from 7pm on Sunday.
The NSW clash will be will be broadcast at baseball.com.au and on baseball.com.au’s YouTube channel.
WA face Australian Capital Territory from 5pm on Saturday on diamond two.
