Bowker drives in six as Sharks smash Panthers in NSWSBL
Cronulla blew Penrith away with a 10-run burst in the opening two innings on its way to a dominant 15-0 victory in the NSW State Baseball League at Bonnett Bay on Sunday.
Playing-coach John Bowker powered the Sharks’ offence, going 3-for-3 and recording six RBIs, while Josh Lavender collected four hits.

Former big leaguer Bowker set the tone early with a bases-clearing double in the first after Max Brennen tripled and scored on an Ethan Stacy single to open the scoring.
Brennen also impressed with three runs and two hits from three at-bats.
Cronulla rode a strong start from Quinn Dipasquale, who punched out four and gave up two hits from four scoreless innings.
The Panthers managed just two hits in the game, being retired in order in three of the five innings.
Runaway leader Macarthur pushed its winning streak to 10 games with a 7-2 win over Manly at Gilchrist Oval.
The Eagles took a 2-1 lead into the sixth ahead of the Orioles piling on five runs.
A pair of singles drove in the first two runs before Shanin Hislop scored off a bases-loaded walk.
A wild pitch then brought Stephen Octave home before Nick Doller add an RBI single.
Derek Howe worked seven two-run innings for Macarthur ahead of Shayne Fogorty recording the final six outs, including two on strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Michael Campbell helped Central Coast to a 12-6 win over Blacktown at Laybutt Reserve.
Campbell hit a two-RBI single in the fifth to extend the Marlins’ lead to six runs before taking over on the mound to close out the victory.
He worked four innings, striking out six, giving up three runs (all unearned) and just as many hits.
Jake Amos went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBIS.
Damian Rutherford also had three RBIs and Taylor Clemensia homered.
