#TBT: Australia at the Little League World Series

Cronulla is set to become the seventh Australian team to take part at the Little League World Series when it opens the 2019 event against Caribbean Region tomorrow morning.

It marks the second time Cronulla has represented Australia Region on Little League’s biggest stage.

Younis signs on for 10th season with Sox

Jacob Younis has signed on for a 10th Australian Baseball League season with the Sydney Blue Sox.

The club today announced the 26-year-old utility had committed for the 2019/20 season.

Cronulla prepared for #LLWS limelight

Before jetting off to the Little League Baseball World Series last week Cronulla manager Jason Choat admitted the experience was not something you could fully prepare for.

But after serving as an assistant to Darren Fullerton – Cronulla’s 2015 Little League World Series manager – last year Choat arrived in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, with more than an idea of what was to come.

U-18 World Cup training camp squad revealed

Australia’s 2019 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup roster will be selected from 37 athletes headed to Lismore to take part in a training camp next week.

Baseball Australia today revealed 37 players will take part in the training camp, including six games against Canada, from August 20-27 ahead of the roster for World Cup in South Korea being finalised.

Metros keep Junior League World Series alive

Northern Metros kept their Junior League World Series hopes alive with a 6-0 win over Europe-Africa Region in Taylor, Michigan, this morning.

The Metros, representing Australia Region, bounced back from a tough first-up loss to Asia-Pacific to avoid elimination from the main bracket.

Lismore to host Australia and Canada U-18 Showdown

Australia and Canada will wrap up their preparations for the 2019 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup in South Korea with a training camp in Lismore this month.

The two teams will use Albert Park Baseball Complex to finalise their preparations from August 20-27, ahead of jetting off to Gijang City for the World Cup.

Beattie picks up first Minor League win

Victoria’s Matt Beattie collected his first Minor League win as Tigers East topped Phillies East 8-7 in game two of their Gulf Coast League doubleheader this morning.

Beattie worked two one-run innings, striking out three and allowing two hits, to improve to 1-1 in eight appearances in 2019.

Metros overpowered by Asia-Pacific Region

Northern Metros have fallen to Asia-Pacific Region in their 2019 Junior League Baseball World Series opener in Taylor, Michigan.

The Metros, representing Australia Region, went down 10-0 against one of the traditional World Series powerhouses.
