WA walk off Queensland in wild #AWBC2022 battle

Western Australia walked off Queensland Maroon in a rain-impacted 2022 Australian Women’s Baseball Championship clash in Adelaide on Sunday.

Leah Cornish doubled to start the bottom of the seventh and went on to score the winning run on a dropped third strike as WA prevailed 4-3 in a wild clash on diamond two.

Queensland top SA in #AWBC2022 thriller

Queensland Maroon remains unbeaten after day two of the 2022 Australian Women’s Baseball Championship after overcoming South Australia in a back-and-forth contest on Saturday night.

Mila Bender’s two-run double put Maroon on top for good and Shiori Hoshino struck out six in three scoreless relief innings to complete an 8-6 win on diamond one at West Beach.

WA open #AWBC2022 account with big win

Western Australia secured its first win of the 2022 Australian Women’s Baseball Championship on Saturday at West Beach.

Yuki Ishikawa and Megan Everitt each drove in three runs as WA completed an impressive 20-1 win over Australian Capital Territory on diamond two.

NSW improve to 2-0 at #AWBC2022 in Adelaide

New South Wales overpowered Queensland Development to secure a second-straight win to start the 2022 Australian Women’s Baseball Championship on Saturday.

Breanna Green’s strong start and an early nine-run lead proved provided the platform for a 14-4 win on diamond one at West Beach.

Either Australian Capital Territory or Western Australia will open their account on day two of the 2022 Australian Women’s Baseball Championship in Adelaide on Saturday.

The two teams will clash from 5pm on diamond two as they look to bounce back from defeats to Victoria on Friday.

Victoria improve to 2-0 at #AWBC2022

Victoria overcame an early deficit to topple Western Australia and secure a 2-0 start to the 2022 Australian Women’s Baseball Championship on Friday.

The defending champions scored six runs in the fourth and went on to complete a 12-3 win on diamond one after shutting out Australian Capital Territory earlier in the day.

Bronwyn Gell’s RBI-double levelled the score in the fourth.

Abbey Kelly singled to give Victoria its first lead of the game.

They added four more runs, including two on singles from Morgan Doty and Allie Bebbere.

Victoria added two insurance runs in the fifth.

Gell finished with five RBIs.

Gabby Bevan provided Victoria with a strong relief outing.

Bevan struck out three in 3 2/3 scoreless innings.

Jamie Bastian recorded two strikeouts in the seventh to close out the win.

Earlier, WA jumped to a 3-0 lead.

Lead Cornish singled after a long at-bat to open the scoring in the first.

Western Australia doubled its lead on a wild pitch before going ahead 3-0 in the second on an error.

Gell delivered a two-run, two-out double in the bottom of the second to start Victoria’s comeback.

Victoria will have a day off on Saturday ahead of taking on New South Wales from 7pm on Sunday.

The NSW clash will be will be broadcast at baseball.com.au and on baseball.com.au’s YouTube channel.

WA face Australian Capital Territory from 5pm on Saturday on diamond two.

NSW power past SA to start #AWBC2022 campaign

A strong performance from the top of the lineup propelled New South Wales to a 12-1 win over 2022 Australian Women’s Baseball Championship hosts South Australia on Friday night at West Beach.

The first four hitters in the lineup each recorded multiple RBIs as New South Wales triumphed on diamond two.

Pitchers Chloe Jones, Ebony Van Eynde and Isobel Lambert combined to allow just one run and support the strong offensive performance.

Both teams traded first-inning runs.

Claire O’Sullivan singled in the top of the first after Ticara Geldenhuis started the game with a base hit.

SA responded in the bottom of the inning.

Gemma Letton walked ahead of Bianca Ramsey and Carly Moore singling.

A hit by pitch tied the game.

Geldenhuis put NSW back in front with a second-inning sacrifice fly and Elodie O’Sullivan extended their lead with a two-run triple.

Maddison Tabrett made it 5-1 with the second NSW sacrifice fly of the inning.

Claire O’Sullivan finished with a game-high three RBIs.

Geldenhuis, Elodie O’Sullivan and Tabrett each drove in two runs.

Jones struck out five in two innings, allowing the one run.

Van Eynde punched out three in two scoreless innings and Lambert closed out a mercy-rule win with a scoreless bottom of the fifth.

Ramsey had a team-high two hits for South Australia.

New South Wales will chase a 2-0 start against Queensland Development on Saturday.

First pitch is slated for 4pm on diamond two.

SA will take on Queensland Maroon on diamond one in a broadcast clash.

Victoria blank ACT, start #AWBC2022 with win

Victoria started its title defence with a 12-0 win over the Australian Capital Territory at the 2022 Australian Women’s Baseball Championship on Friday.

The defending champions scored a run in each inning to complete a five-inning mercy-rule win ahead of a rematch of the 2019 decider against Western Australia at 7pm.

South Australians Jess Maslin and Carly Moore headline the Adelaide Giants’ preliminary 2022 Australian Women’s Baseball Showcase roster.

Infielder Maslin and utility Moore will appear for a second-straight year in a Giants uniform at the May 5-8 showcase in Geelong.
