Eastern Phantoms claimed their first win at the 2022 Australian Intermediate League Championship, defeating Brisbane Metro 15-5 in Mildura on Tuesday.

The Phantoms racked up 11 hits and scored six runs in the fifth to pull away from Brisbane in their final Pool A clash on diamond two.

Soong accounted for five of the strikeouts in three one-hit innings.

The Phantoms made a fast start, scoring three runs in the second to take an early lead.

Ryde answered in the second with a run, before scoring three in the third to take the lead.

The Hawks then pulled away with three runs in the fifth to seal the contest.

Cash Robinson drove in three runs for Ryde, while Lucas Williams and Riley Coyle each had two RBIs.

Eastern Phantoms will look to bounce back when they take on Twins on diamond two on Monday at 10.15am.

Ryde will look to improve to 2-0 when they take on Brisbane Metro from 1.15pm.

The Australian Intermediate League Championship is supported by the Victorian Government’s Significant Sporting Events Program.

Mildura Rural City Council are also a major partner of the event.
