We crown a U16 and U18 national champion on January 16 on the final day of the 2024 Australian Youth Championships.

However, more rain and unplayable field conditions have made things tricky. Updates are below.

After assessment of Diamond 1, it has been determined that we will be unable to schedule more than two games on the final day of the AYCS on Tuesday 16 January.

Therefore, the decision has been made to call off the final U16 games of the second round. These games are Victoria vs New South Wales and Western Australia vs Queensland.

Under championship rules & regulations, if a round is unable to be completed, records from the previous completed round determines the national champions.

In this instance, the records revert to the end of Round 1, where all U16 games were completed.

The 2024 National Champions of the Under 16 age-group are New South Wales.

We are now making every reasonable effort for the best interests of all parties to complete the second round of the Under 18s.

The new schedule is

U18 Second Round – 4:30PM – SA v NSW
U18 Second Round – 7:00PM – VIC vs WA

UPDATE (10:20AM): Our assessment is that there is still no definitive start time for Diamond 1.

Diamond 2 and Diamond 3 are unplayable and no games will be played on them. The next Diamond 1 assessment will be at 12:00pm.

Unfortunately, the 16U game between WA and QLD will not be played.

UPDATE (8:30AM): Day 7 of the Australian Youth Baseball Championships is under delay after more rainfall last night. The fields are currently unplayable but the tarp is off. We will re-assess the field at 10AM and advise after that.

Unfortunately, rain & weather washed out play on Day 6, following a thrilling Day 5.

Therefore, the Gold Medal and Bronze Medal Games will not be played due to the weather conditions.

The national champion will be the team that finishes top of their second-round group.

The schedule of play will be as follows:

10:00AM – Under 16 – Diamond 1 – New South Wales (2-0) vs Victoria (2-0)

12:30PM – Under 18 – Diamond 1 – Victoria (2-0) vs Western Australia (1-1)

3:00PM – Under 18 – Diamond 1 – South Australia (1-1) vs New South Wales (0-2)

CALLED OFF DUE TO RAIN (Originally scheduled 5:30PM) – Under 16 – Diamond 1 – Western Australia (0-2) vs Queensland (0-2)

These games will be played as seven-inning games with no new innings after 2:05.

This schedule is subject to change, based on field conditions.

We will assess Diamonds 2 and 3 in the morning. If they become playable, we will work on scheduling other games.

Rainy weather washes out Day 6 of the Australian Youth Championships 

Drama on Day 5: Recapping a truly special Medal Round at U16 + U18 Championships

This will go down as one of the more memorable days in Australian junior baseball history.

The first day of the Medal Rounds were epic. Every one of the 10 games were close, in a day that lasted nearly 13 because of rain delays.

They were all meaningful. Playoff baseball, baby.

We saw a no-hitter, multiple complete game shutouts, many comebacks, a 15-year-old hit a home run, some epic defensive plays, extra innings thrillers, and teams who booked a spot in Tuesday’s Gold Medal game.

WHAT IS THE MEDAL ROUND?

After four days where each of the teams played each other once, the Top 4 qualified for the ‘Medal Round.’

Records re-set and each team will play each other once from January 14-15.

From there, the Top 2 teams qualify for the Gold Medal Game on Tuesday.

RESULTS, AS THEY UNFOLDED – January 14

UNDER 16 MEDAL ROUND –  Victoria 4 def Western Australia 3 (8 innings)

It was a Mitch Langworthy special as Victoria sensationally stormed back from three runs down to defeat Western Australia in extras.

Western Australia seemed in control after scoring three early runs. Leanard Golding hit a solo shot for WA and Victoria were left stunned.

In the bottom of the fourth the game started to turn. Langworthy collected the first of three hits on the day, when he cranked a double to the wall to score the first run for Victoria.

In the bottom of the sixth Langworthy blasted a triple to the wall to cut the lead to 3-2. He scored on a sacrifice fly from Sam Walk on the next at bat. Tie ballgame.

Off to extras we go…

Liam Puncher induced a 1-2-3 inning of Western Australia in the top of the eighth.

Langworthy struck again – with a bunt single in extras to bring the winning run to third who was later scored on a bases-loaded walk.

Prisov, Golding and Samukawa had the RBIs for Western Australia.

UNDER 16 MEDAL ROUND –  New South Wales 7 def Queensland 4

Don’t let the score deceive you. This game was wild, tense and close.

New South Wales took an early lead in the bottom of the third thanks to doubles from Liam Worne and Frank Clarke.

“Comeback Queensland”, who have four come-from-behind victories this tournament, scored three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 3-2 lead thanks to great team hitting.

It was a short-lived lead. With two runners on, Fletcher Willard crunched a 2-RBI triple to send New South Wales in front once again. They piled on three more runs.

Queensland scored in the top of the last and even had the tying run at the plate. Queensland outhit New South Wales 6-5.

UNDER 16 CONSOLATION ROUND – New South Wales Country 3 TIE South Australia 3

In the first game of the consolation round, NSWC and SA played to a 3-3 tie.

Jake Moras’ RBI single in the third inning put South Australia in a promising 3-0 positing.

The Country boys stormed back. Draven Fatu led the charge by going 3-for-3, stealing three bases and scoring two runs.

A Ben Frost RBI tied the game late for NSWC.

Hamish Phelps and Bailey Richards tossed five innings of scoreless relief work for NSWC.

RECORDS – South Australia 0-0-1, New South Wales Country 0-0-1

UNDER 18 MEDAL ROUND – South Australia 3 def West Australia 1

Flynn McKee comes up clutch with huge three hit performance for South Australia as they hold West Australia to just one hit.

Back-to-back walks at the top of the second by George Calverly and Jai Hewitt allowed West Australia to strike first with a Riley Hall sacrifice fly.

South Australia was able to tie the game at the bottom of the fourth off an RBI single from Aiden Lucas to capitalise on a leadoff double by Flynn McKee.

South Australia then took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth helped by a clutch two-out single by McKee.

McKee is now the tournament’s hit leader with eleven.

Thomas Steven pitched 3.0 no-hit innings in relief, allowing just a walk while striking out three.

UNDER 18 MEDAL ROUND – Victoria 5 def New South Wales 2

A combined no-hitter for Victoria as they take the game from a late-game surge.

New South Wales were the first to get on the board with an RBI groundout from Lucas Stancic in the bottom of the first.

A fielding error by NSW with two outs in the top of the fourth allowed Victoria to capitalise on back-to-back, two-out walks to tie the game.

RBI singles by Will Kent in the top of the sixth and Matthew Johnston in the top of the seventh highlighted a two-inning, four-run surge by Victoria.

Will Kent also made the play of the game in the bottom of the seventh with an impeccable catch and throw to first off a hard-hit ball to keep the no-hitter alive.

Tane Graham pitched 3.0 innings in relief for Victoria, striking out four. Jack Ratcliffe completed the no-hitter with a 1.0-inning, two strikeout performance.

UNDER 18 CONSOLATION ROUND – New South Wales Country 4 def Queensland 1

A pitcher’s duel between Zac Leggett (QLD) and Max Hagger (NSWC) and Riley Puckett (NSWC) in the first three innings, with no hits and just three walks between both teams.

But it was NSWC to break through in the top of the fourth. An RBI triple by Oliver Flokstra followed by a sacrifice fly by Jonah Beath put NSWC up 2-0.

NSWC tallied another two runs in the following inning to make it a 4-0 ballgame.

While a Max Durrington double was able to put Queensland on the board in the bottom of the seventh, NSWC was able to end the game at the next at-bat.

UNDER 16 MEDAL ROUND – Victoria 3 def Queensland 2

Money Mitch Langworthy does it again – with the bat AND on the mound. Victoria had to comeback from multiple runs down to win again!

Queensland scored first off a sacrifice bunt and RBI groundout in the bottom of the third to lead 2-0.

Then Victoria made their move with five singles in the fifth.

The biggest of all was with bases loaded. Down 2-0, Mitch Langworthy knocked a 2-RBI single into the outfield to tie the game. Jordan Ellis followed and drove in the eventual winning run.

Ellis and Jake Bertucci finished the game going 3-for-4 from the plate.

Cooper Busch pitched 6.2 innings for Victoria, striking three while allowing no earned runs.

In the bottom of the seventh, with two runners in scoring position for Queensland and two outs, Mitchell Langworthy induced a flyout to centre field to close the game.

Crotty, Duncalf, and Pearce each recorded a base hit for Queensland.

U16 Medal Round – New South Wales 5 def West Australia 0

Two rain delays was not going to stop Cohen Ryan from pitching a complete game shutout for New South Wales, where he allowed six hits, no walks, and striking out five.

New South Wales got on the board first at the bottom of the third with a two-RBI double from Cash Robinson. Robinson would then single in the bottom of the sixth to bat home another run.

Cavill, Clarke, and Jones also contributed with two hits each.

Blake Thompson led West Australia with two hits in three at bats.

New South Wales will face Victoria for gold on Tuesday.

Ryan’s seven-inning complete-game shutout was impressive. He survived two rain delays.

U18 Medal Round – Victoria 1 def South Australia 0

Victoria walk it off in extra innings to punch a ticket into the gold medal game.

It was a day for the pitchers.

Ryder Wilson pitched an 8.0-inning shutout for Victoria, striking out four while only allowing four hits and a walk. Amazing.

Alistair Tanner started for South Australia, allowing just two hits and two walks as he struck out three. He also hit a top speed of 94mph.

Will Couzner pitched 3.1 relief innings, allowing only two hits and two walks as he struck out four.

Jayden Kim led Victoria on the offensive end, going 2-for-4 with a double.

Matthew Johnston’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eight scored the game-winning run. He finished the game 1-for-2 with a walk.

Altamura, Lucas, Thomas, and Hodges all recorded a hit for South Australia.

RAIN DELAY – 4:00PM – 7:00PM

U18 Medal Round – Western Australia 5 def New South Wales 4

Another epic. After a near three-hour rain delay, teams finally played ball and did not disappoint.

New South Wales jumped out to an early three run lead after taking advantage of a string of walks in the third inning.

Western Australia immediately responded. They put of a 4-run fourth thanks to clutch hitting from the bottom of the line-up of Xavier Fatia, Riley Ozanne, Ben Crook and Darcy Clements. Jacob Davila knocked in a go ahead run.

The 4-3 lead was faint. New South Wales tied it in the bottom of the fourth.

A Jai Hewitt sacrifice fly put Western Australia up 5-4 in the fifth.

Nervy pitching from Boston Foot and a couple stand out defensive plays closed out a nervy day that was just ripping with raw emotion.

The Australian Youth Championship Tournament Committee has decided to alter Day 5’s schedule of play for Sunday 14 January.

This decision was made based on weather forecasts and a strong potential of significant rain which could impact the games.

The plan is still to fit all originally scheduled games for the day, however, there have been alterations to the diamonds and times in both age groups.

Day 6 and 7 teams and times will remain the same. If there is no update posted, it means there is no update to give.

A spread-out offense by New South Wales propels them past New South Wales Country, where Luke Donaghey, Joshua Nati, Lucas Stancic, Max Miotto, and Hayden Elliott each had two hits.

Overall, seven batters for NSW were able to record a base hit.

New South Wales Country was led by a 2-for-3 performance by Riley Puckett.

West Australia 3 def South Australia 1

West Australia starter Campbell Froude pitched 3.0 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, a walk, while striking out two.

Their offense was led by Jai Hewitt, Riley Hall, and Riley Ozanne, who each recorded a base hit.

South Australia’s offense was led by Nicholas Paparella, who was 2-for-4 from the plate with an RBI.

Queensland 20 def Australian Capital Territory 8

Early offense by Queensland helped pushed them to a convincing win over Australian Capital Territory.

An absolutely standout performance from Max Durrington, who went 2-for-3 from the plate with a walk and three RBIs, including an inside-the-park home run in the top of the fourth inning.

Liam Kiddle led the team in hits, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, legging out a triple in the process.

Lachlan Jones led the team in RBIs with four after going 2-for-3 with a walk.

Jake Scott and Charlie Pietsch each went 2-for-2 with a walk.

For ACT, their offense was led by Bailey Watson and Harry Austin. Watson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Austin was 2-for-2 with a double and a walk.

West Australia 9 def Australian Capital Territory 3

West Australia secures a top four spot with a win over Australian Capital Territory.

West Australia pitcher Jesse Neretlis pitched 1.1 innings, allowing three walks, a hit, while striking out two.

Their offense was led by George Calverley, who hit a home run to encapsulate a 2-for-3 performance with a walk and two RBIs. Riley Ozanne had a 2-for-3 performance of his own as well.

For Australia Capital Territory, Reegan Smith went 2-for-3, and Matthew Trainor had an RBI double.

Victoria 4 def South Australia 2

A three-run inning in the bottom of the sixth keeps Victoria ahead of South Australia in the standings.

Victoria pitcher Addison Bishop-Worn pitched 3.0 shutout innings, allowing just a hit and a walk while striking three. Ryder Wilson struck out two in 2.1 shutout innings, and Aimon Dowling struck out two in 1.1 shutout innings.

Jack Ratcliffe and Ty Daniels each recorded two hits in three at bats, contributing an RBI each, with Ratcliffe legging out a double.

For South Australia, six players recorded a hit.

New South Wales 4 def Queensland 2

New South Wales earns the top spot in the U18 AYC with a close win over Queensland.

New South Wales pitcher Edward Noy pitched 2.0 no-hit innings, allowing just a single walk while striking out three batters.

Their offense was spearheaded by leadoff batter Mason Malkoun, who went 2-for-3 with a walk. Max Miotto was able to leg out an RBI triple.

Liam Kiddle continued his stellar Saturday performance earlier in the day, this time going 2-for-3 with an RBI, to which he recorded yet another triple.

Lachlan Jones also carried on his strong performance at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

After rain disrupted play in the morning, we finally got underway with a disrupted schedule. Scroll down for modified Day 4 schedule of the 2024 Australian Youth Championships.

Under 18 Day 3 Results

Victoria 6 def Queensland 2

Queensland were the first on the board in the bottom of the second off an RBI single from Wesley Wilford.

Wilford would finish the game going 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Queensland.

However, a three-run inning by Victoria in the top of the second put them in a lead that they wouldn’t relinquish.

Ben Howard and Jayden Kim both went 2-for-3 with a walk. Addison Bishop-Worn went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple.

Victoria combined for nine hits across six batters, while Queensland had eight hits from four batters.

West Australia 4 def New South Wales Country 0

West Australia held New South Wales Country to a 2-hit shutout for their first victory of the tournament.

West Australia starters combined for nine strikeouts in seven innings, highlighted by a five-strikeout in 2.1-inning-outing by Kye Varrone, who only allowed a hit and a walk.

Their offense was led by Kyle Bertolini, who went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Lewis Mercieca pitched 4.1 relief innings for NSWC, striking out four batters while only allowing a hit and walk. Their two hits were recorded by Hamish Weekes, who went 2-for-3 with a stolen base.

Victoria 17 def Australian Capital Territory 5

Victoria combined for ten hits and eleven walks as they remained undefeated in the tournament.

Ty Daniels went perfect at the plate for Victoria today, going 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. Ben Howard added two hits at three at bats for an RBI.

Six more players added one hit each.

For Australian Capital Territory, Christian Lane went 3-for-3 with one RBI to lead the team. Paterson Trudgett went 2-for-3.

South Australia 4 def New South Wales 2

A late-game effort by New South Wales was not enough to overcome South Australia’s early lead.

South Australia starter Tyler Howarth pitched 4.2 innings, striking out four and allowing just two hits.

Zachary Altamura led South Australia’s offense batting leadoff, going 3-for-4 from the plate with two doubles. Five more players had one hit each.

Zac Morris led the way for New South Wales, going 2-for-3 from the plate. Three more players added one hit each.

Benjamin Karakasis tossed 3.0 innings of three-hit, shutout ball for NSW in relief.

Ali Tanner shut the door for SA, after New South Wales cut a 4-0 deficit in half. It was a tense and dramatic game on the backfield.

Under 16 Day 3 Results

Queensland 9 def Victoria 8

Queensland were trailing 8-2 in the fifth inning and things were looking grim. But Queensland pegged four back in the fifth and scored three more in the sixth to walk off Victoria and improve their record to 4-0.

Alex Duncalfe was the star of the show. He pitched three innings with no earned runs, giving up three hits and striking out five.

He also went 3-for-3 with bat.

Victoria spread six hits across the line-up while Queensland tallied 11 as a team.

Queensland have booked their spot in the Medal Round.

Western Australia 7 def New South Wales Country 3

Two singles from Edwards and Williams, as well as a fielder’s choice in the top of the first put West Australia up 3-0 early in the game.

NWSC were able to put a run on the board in the bottom of the first of a sacrifice fly from A Peachey. However, a fielding error in the top of the second allowed West Australia to bring the score back to a three-run deficit.

West Australia ultimately was able to close out the game 7-3 for their first victory of the tournament.

Victoria 13 def Australian Capital Territory 4

A seven-run inning the bottom of the second led to a Victoria victory.

Victoria’s offense was led by Jordan Ellis, who batted in four runs from a 3-for-4 performance. Cooper Busch and Ned Johnson both contributed by going 2-for-2.

Ryan Fletcher was a standout performer for the ACT team, going 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Victoria tallied eleven total hits across seven players while the ACT had eight hits across five players.

New South Wales 14 def South Australia ­5

While South Australia was able to respond to an early 3-run inning in the top of the first by New South Wales to tie the game 3-3, a 7-run inning in the fourth by New South Wales help propel them to remain undefeated.

Three members of New South Wales were perfect at the plate, led by a standout performance by Lucas Seda, who went 3-for-3 with a triple, a walk, and 5 RBIs. Frank Clarke and Kobe Cusbert both were 2-for-2 from the plate with a walk.

J Chenoweth and A Mitchell were key performers for South Australia, with both going 2-for-3 from the plate.

New South Wales recorded eleven hits across seven batters while South Australia had five hits from three batters.

DAY 2 RESULTS

Queensland 9 def New South Wales Country 5

Bailey McDonough went 3-3 and batted in four runs for Queensland.

McDonough singled, Jake Scott and Caesar Gardiner doubled to jump start Queensland’s runs in the first inning.

Queensland singled in two extra runs in the fifth inning.

New South Wales Country rallied in three extra runs in the sixth inning but it was quickly shut down with a double play.

Despite the NSWC loss, Riley Cooper finished 2-3 and Samuel Davis finished 3-3.

New South Wales 4 def Victoria 2

Joshua Nati, Lucas Stancic, Liam Grant and Zac Morris all had hits, while Nati had a crucial 2 RBI double in the later stages of the game to help New South Wales get the win.

Victoria got up first in the first inning when William Kent singled.

New South Wales took the lead in the second inning when Nati and Morris singled.

New South Wales 9 def Australian Capital Territory 4

New South Wales remain undefeated for the second day of AYC’s and improved to 3-0.

New South Wales were the first to get on the board during the first inning. They stacked on 7 runs in the fourth inning with a notable double from Lachlan Vella.

Australian Capital Territory picked up their first runs in the fifth inning from two RBI singles but couldn’t storm back. They piled on four runs in the bottom half of the fifth to make it 8-4 to give a brief glimpse of a comeback.

The pitching lineup for New South Wales of Noy, Suykens, Miotto and Morris finished the game with a combined 6 strikeouts.

New South Wales finishes the day with two wins, outscoring opponents 13-6.

Western Australia 4 tie Queensland 4

For the first time in this AYC tournament, two teams tie.

Queensland had to storm back to do it.

Western Australia got up first in the second inning on an RBI single from Benjamin Nesbit and extended their lead to four runs in the fourth inning.

Queensland fought back to tie the game in the fifth inning on an RBI walk and big-time triple from Liam Kiddle.

The final sixth inning ended up being a scoreless inning for both teams before the game was called due to time.

Both Western Australia and Queensland had moments of great pitching. Western Australia had a combined 10 strikeouts, with Oki Takishima having 5 strikeouts in 3.1 innings with no runs against him. Queensland finished with a combined total of 8 strikeouts.

South Australia 10 def New South Wales Country 3

New South Wales Country held an early lead, but South Australia exploded for 10 straight runs to improve their record to 3-0.

South Australia has now outscored opponents 34-4 and sit equal top with a 3-0 record.

Nick Paparella (CF, 2B) had three hits and 3 RBI. Flynn McKee had another multi-hit game, this time racking up three hits with 2 runs batted in.

South Australia combined for 11 hits in the game and received solid pitching.

Will Couzner started the game, allowing one earned run in 2.1 innings. Tyler Green followed him up, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings.

Jonah Beath had a pair of hits for New South Wales Country, who fall to 3-1. Country led 2-0 going into the bottom of the third before SA exploded for five.

South Australia remain undefeated in the AYC’s.

DAY 2 RESULTS

Queensland 16 def New South Wales Country 1

Queensland scored first in the top of the first from an RBI triple from shortstop Alex Duncalfe.

Duncalfe would finish the game with two triples from his four at bats.

Center Fielder Kobi Wise added two hits in his two bats, including an RBI double.

Third Baseman Cooper Teichmann led the team with three RBIs from a double and walk.

Tyson Wardrop struck out two in an inning without allowing a single baserunner.

For NSWC, they were led by Aaron Peachey, who had two hits in his three at bats.

New South Wales 10 def Victoria 4

New South Wales starter Cohen Ryan pitched 5.0 innings, allowing five hits, one earned run while striking out three.

Their offense was led by two hits from Ryan Chou (SS) and Fletcher Willard (LF), as well as a 2-RBI double from Aiden Riddle (RF).

For Victoria, Roman Coote (CF) and Mitchell Langworthy (1B) both went 2-for-4. Both recorded a double, and Langworthy also recorded a triple.

New South Wales 16 def Australian Capital Territory 7

New South Wales starter Fletcher Willard pitched 1.2 innings, allowing four hits, a walk, while striking out two.

Tahlan Cavill (3B) went 2-for-3 with an RBI, including a double, and a walk. Ryan Reekie (2B, CF), Frank Clarke (SS), Kai Stacey (RF), Kimi Miyamoto Soong (LF, P), and Riley Jones (C) each had two RBIs.

For the Australian Capital Territory, they fought hard after falling to a 0-14 deficit. Their scoring was led by Brooklyn Riwaka (2B), Ren Adachi (3B), and Dominic Hamilton (C), with each of them having two hits.

South Australia 8 def New South Wales Country 4

South Australia was able to get the victory over NSWC from a balanced attack led by two RBIs from Harrison Taintey (CF). Tommy Bird (P, DH), Toby Kortekaas (C), Mitchell Evans (1B) each had one RBI.

NWSC relief pitcher A Leicht pitched 1.1 innings, allowing just two baserunners while striking out two. Angus Taylor (LF), Benjamin Frost (RF), and Connor McCarthy (2B) each had a single and an RBI.

Queensland 10 def West Australia 4

A distributed offense by Queensland helped them remain undefeated, with seven batters logging a hit.

Axel Strachan (2B) led the way with three hits in four at bats, supported by Patrick Crotty (1B) and Paddy McLoughlin (RF) each had two RBIs, with Crotty legging out for a triple.

Leonard Golding (CF) of West Australia led the way with a double and was supported by a single each from Eita Samukawa (2B, SS), Thomas Williams (RF), Adam Taylor (LF, P), and Harry Wooden (LF).

Ali Tanner (SA) – 6 strikeouts, no runs and no hits in 3.2 innings

Oliver Flokstra (NSWC) – 2 hits (one being a triple) in 3 ABs

Riley Puckett (NSWC) – 5 strikeouts and 1 allowed run in 5.2 innings

Victoria 12 def West Australia 5

WA scored first in this game, thanks to an RBI sac fly by Jai Hewitt and Austin Moyle in the top of the first.

However, VIC responded right away in the bottom of the first when Jayden Kim tripled, Jack Ratcliffe hit a sac fly, scoring one run, and Matthew Johnston doubled, bringing the score to 3 – 2.

The Vics piled it on from there.

A double by Ratcliffe and a single by Ty Daniels helped VIC extend their lead in the bottom of the second to 6 – 2.

WA climbed up the scoreboard again in the top of the third when George Caverley hit an RBI groundout and Austin Moyle singled (6 – 4).

But Victoria responded with a lopsided inning of their own thanks to hits from Tanner Stack, Ben Howard, Ratcliffe and Daniels.

VIC scored their final runs in the bottom of the fourth when Jayden Kim hit an RBI groundout, bringing in the first run to score and the second run to score on a fielding error at second (12 – 4).

WA scored the final run of the game in the top of the sixth when Benjamin Nesbit singled (12 – 5).

New South Wales Country 13 def Australian Capital Territory 1

Riley Puckett started on the mound for NSWC, pitching 5.2 innings while having 1 run scored against him and 5 strikeouts.

NSWC jumped to a three-run game in the top of the first when Oliver Flokstra tripled and Rylan Angle hit an RBI groundout. ACT answered back in the bottom of the first when Ryder Cook doubled, making it a 3 – 1 game.

NSWC kept etching the score up when Jack Elasi hit an RBI groundout (top of the second) and Flokstra hit a sac fly (top of the third), bringing the score to 5 – 1.

Then, NSWC struck again in the top of the fifth, making the game 9 – 1 when Elasi was hit by a pitch, Lincoln Gruppelaar hit an RBI groundout and Riley Cooper singled.

NSWC scored their final runs (13 – 1) when M. Targett tripled, Elasi hit an RBI groundout, Gruppelaar walked and Flokstra singled.

South Australia 12 def Queensland 0

A combined no hitter!!!

SA starter Ali Tanner pitched 3.2 innings, not allowing any runs or hits while striking out six. Tyler Howarth and Josh Altamura closed up shop.

SA were the first to score in the top of the third when Flynn McKee and James McFarlane both doubled and brought in two runs each.

In the top of the fourth, SA continued to score when McKee singled, Nicholas Paparella scored on a fielding error, McKee walked home and Aiden Lucas scored on a wild pitch (8 – 0).

Then, in the top of the fifth, SA scored four extra runs (including a double from Zachary Altamura and Lachlan South).

Ali Tanner clocked out at 92mph.

Max Strickland (QLD) topped out at 90mph.

South Australia 12 def Australian Capital Territory 1

SA continued dominating in their second game.

Connor Yeatman started on the mound for SA, pitching 3 innings while having only 2 hits and 5 strikeouts.

SA scored their first five runs in the bottom of the second, their biggest moments were when Boston Hodges and Aiden Lucas singled.

SA racked up the rest of their runs in the bottom of the third when Ben Ganley singled, four SA players walked and Tyler Green singled in two extra runs.

South Australia finished Day 1 with a 2 – 0 record, outscoring opponents 24 – 1.

Victoria 12 def New South Wales Country 1

The relentless Victorians tallied ten hits and nine walks in a 12-1 win over New South Wales Country.

Ben Howard (2-for-4), Jayden Kim (2-for-4), and Addison Bishop Worn (2-for-4) led the way for Victoria.

Ryder Wilson also turned in a nice performance for the Vics on the mound, tossing 4.0 innings of shutout ball with no hits.

Victoria rallied for three runs in the first, and then pulled away late with five runs in the sixth.

Victoria finishes Day 1 with a 2-0 record, outscoring opponents 24-6.

New South Wales 13 def Western Australia 2

Lucas Stancic had three hits, while Josh Nati had a pair of triples, in a dominating New South Wales win.

Seven different New South Wales players combined for 13 hits.

The top part of the line-up was relentless for New South Wales. Luke Donaghey, Josh Nati, Luke Stancic, Max Miotto and Lachlan Vella reached base a combined 16 times.

New South Wales used a monstrous seven run fourth inning to race away into the sunset.

James Ferguson (NSW) topped out at 90mph.

Riley Hall (WA) clocked out at 86mph.

Western Australia fall to 0-2 on the day.
