Travis Bazzana named Pac-12 Player of the Year, Batting Champ
Sydney’s Travis Bazzana continues to add to his incredible resume in a historic 2024 season.
He was just named the Pac-12 Player of the Year and the conference’s batting champion.
The Pac-12 is one of the powerhouse athletic conferences in American collegiate sport. And Bazzana? Well he was truly one of the best this year for the Oregon State Beavers.
His .429 average was the best in the conference and if it holds through the postseason it will be the 12th highest in league history.
Bazzana belted 26 home runs, also leading the conference, and set the school’s single season record.
He has 62 runs batted in – good for second in the conference.
Bazzana also set the Oregon State all-time school record for hits (241), runs (213), doubles (49, T-1st), home runs (43), walks (172), stolen bases (64) and total bases (439).
He is a semi-finalist for the prestigious Golden Spikes Award, given to the top amateur player in the USA. Fans can do their part and vote him through to the finals.
He was recently predicted by MLB to go #1 in July’s Draft. If that happens, he would not just be the first Australian to go first overall, but the first Australian selected in the opening round.
Congrats, Travis!
