Australia falls to Venezuela in opening round finale

Australia’s opening round campaign at the 2019 WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup has come to an end with a 13-0 loss to Venezuela in Taiwan on Tuesday afternoon.

Riki Mochizuki picked up Australia’s sole base hit, a single in the top of the fifth, in another tough Group B outing against a strong nation.

Loek van Mil passes away

Former Adelaide Bite and Brisbane Bandits pitcher Loek van Mil has passed away.

The Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Federation (KNBSB) tonight announced in a statement van Mil, 34, died “due to the consequences of a fatal accident”.

Australia overpowered by Mexico at #U12WorldCup

Australia had no answers to Mexico’s powerful batting lineup, falling 21-2 at the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup in Taiwan on Monday afternoon.

Mexico (3-1) swung early and often to keep constant pressure on Australia’s pitching staff at Tainan’s ASPAC B.

O'Loughlin tosses six no-hit innings

South Australian Jack O’Loughlin led the way as four pitchers combined to guide Connecticut to a no-hitter in a 3-0 win over Tri-City in the New York-Penn League.

The Adelaide Bite teenager tossed six no-hit innings, striking out two and walking five, at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium this morning (Australian time).

Western Suns go down to Latin America at #SLBWS

The Western Suns were unable to back up their impressive day one win at the 2019 Senior League Baseball World Series, falling to Latin America Region 6-1 in Easley, South Carolina, this morning.

Latin America’s pitching proved insurmountable for the Suns, representing Australia Region at the World Series, as they managed just three hits through six innings before a late rally.

Nati homers as Australia falls to Italy at #U12WorldCup

Joshua Nati’s two-run homer was not enough to lift Australia to its first win of the 2019 WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup in Taiwan on Sunday afternoon.

Australia fell to Italy 6-4 at Shan-Hwa to remain without a win in Group B ahead of its final two opening round games against Mexico and Venezuela.

Western Suns survive Canada comeback at #SLBWS

The Western Suns survived a comeback from Canada Region to record a 10-6 win in their opening game of the Senior League Baseball World Series in Easley, South Carolina.

A four-run first inning got Australia Region’s representatives off to a perfect start and after two frames the Suns led 6-0.
