David Hynes has served as President of Baseball Australia since 2012. A former lawyer and Olympian, David has served or currently serves as a director of a number of leading Australian companies, including Balmain Tigers, Wests Tigers, Australian University Sport, Manchester Unity Australia Limited and Sydney Markets Limited. David is also the Deputy Chairman of the Carbine Club of NSW.
David is committed to working with the close-knit Australian Baseball community to grow Baseball in Australia at all levels – from grassroots to international.
Glenn Williams was appointed CEO of Baseball Australia in April 2021. Prior to his appointment as CEO he held the role of General Manager Team Australia, overseeing Australia’s rise in world ranking from 13th to sixth from 2015-2020.
As an athlete, Glenn was a dual Olympian, Olympic silver medallist (Athens 2004) and a 15 year professional with three MLB organisations. He was the 19th Australian to play in the Major Leagues, debuting for the Minnesota Twins in June 2005 and inducted into the Australian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2012.
After a lifetime in baseball and having spent time at every level of the game, Glenn has developed a deep understanding and passion for baseball. He will aim to use that passion to drive the growth of Baseball in Australia.
Ian Williams joined the Baseball Australia board in 2018. Ian is former Australian Under 19 baseball representative, as well as having represented the Australian Wallabies (1984-1990) and Japan Brave Blossoms (1993).
After 20 years as corporate partner in international law firms, he is currently a director of ASX-New Hope Corporation and chair of McDonald Jones Homes.
Ian is interested in developing connections in Asia and implementing the “Baseball in Australia” strategy through improved governance and alignment between Baseball Australia and its member States and Territories.
Pete Shmigel is a business executive and writer. He is formerly CEO of the Australian Council of Recycling, Lifeline Australia and the Beverage Industry Environment Council. He has also served in politics as a senior advisor to nine Ministers and Premiers, as a pollster, and a candidate. He is on the Boards of three mental health NGOs and Baseball Australia, and occasionally plays (badly) for the Carlingford Cardinals G-grade.
Rob Sadler has been a director of Baseball Australia since 2012 and was previously a director and chairman of Baseball Victoria. Rob has over 40 years’ experience coaching junior and senior teams at club level. He has also coached a number of junior state teams. Since its inception Rob was chair of the ABL Tribunal. Rob holds a Ph.D., MBA, LL.M., LL.B (Hons) and B.Ec degrees. He is a barrister and a mediator and regularly appears in courts and tribunals around Australia. He is also a director of a number of government and private sector boards and tribunals.
Anthony is an experienced director of sports administration and investment banking executive.
His broad experience includes; Father of three, Chair of Baseball NSW, Corporate finance executive at Barrenjoey Capital, JP Morgan, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank, working in both London and Sydney. Anthony is a Chartered accountant and has a Master of Business Administration (AGSM). Anthony is the Chair of our Finance and Audit Committee.
Graeme Lloyd is one of 35 Australian born players to make it to baseball’s elite – the MLB. Born on the outskirts of Geelong, Lloyd was signed by the Toronto Blue Jays on 26 January 1988. After posting a 1.96 ERA for the Blue Jays ‘AA’ team, Lloyd was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers and made his major league debut on April 11, 1993 together with David Nilsson, forming the first ever all-Australian battery. Lloyd was named the Brewers’ Rookie-of-the-Year after he posted a 3-4, 2.83 record in 55 appearances. Three years later he was traded to New York Yankees where Lloyd threw 5.2 scoreless innings in the post season and collected the win in Game 4 of the 996 World Series. He again performed well in the 1998 World Series triumph by the Yankees and is the proud wearer of 2 World Series rings. Graeme Lloyd has over 40 years of local, national, and international experience and served a 16 years professional career in USA Coaching. During his sports career he earned many awards including a comeback player of the year 2001 Tony Canigliaro Award, Sports Australia HOF, 2013 Inaugural Australian and WA Baseball Hall Of Fame Inductee, and made 75 Claxton Shield Diamond All-Star Team. After pitching Perth to the 1991 Championship, he was named MVP. No other Australian pitcher owns a better lifetime ERA (2.34) over a long career.
Graeme played in Geelong and Melbourne for the All-Stars ,Geelong ,Essendon Sunshine, and the Guild Lions . He was also 8 times VIC Junior, Senior, and Australian Representative, Australian Junior and Senior Pitching and Bench Coach for Men, Pitching coach for Women’s Australian bronze medal winning team in 2013, and Mentor SAHOF for Cameron Shields.
Graeme hopes to bring Aussie Baseball into the next phase of growth with his on-field knowledge of the game and extensive experience with over 550 games in the MLB over 10 years. Graeme attended the Harvard Business School in 2019 and completed the Authentic Leader Development course to help his administrative acumen. Graeme hopes to take baseball to the next level through all the assets that the Baseball Australia Board has to offer. Graeme is part of several Board committees working on High Performance, HOF, and Heritage Committee.
Sarah Cook is a former international rower, competing at World Rowing Championships and World Cups between 2004 to 2012, winning many national and international medals throughout this time. Ms Cook competed for Australia at the 2008 Olympic Games in the Women’s Pair and the 2012 Olympic Games in the Women’s Eight. Following the 2012 Olympics, Ms Cook changed sports to Sailing and competed for Australia between 2013-2015 in the 470 Dinghy and 49erFX Skiff classes with the Australian Sailing Team.
Sarah has a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Canberra/University of Sydney, and a Graduate Diploma in Education at the University of New England. During this time she was awarded a Full Blue in Rowing from both the University of Canberra and the University of Sydney. In 2018, Ms Cook completed the Company Directors Course through the Australian Institute of Company Directors with the assistance of the ASC’s Women Leaders in Sport Grants Program. In 2015 she was recognised as one of Australia’s 100 Women of Influence in the Young Leaders Category, in 2019 she was received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of New England, and her rowing program at Kinross Wolaroi School won the World Rowing Sustainability Award for their Spring Creek Regeneration Project.
Sarah has been a broadcast commentator at the Henley Royal Regatta since 2015, and for World Rowing at World Championships and World Cups since 2013. She is the President of Sydney University Boat Club and a Trustee of the Laurie Stepto Trust which awards an annual scholarship to a talented young rower in New South Wales. Ms Cook was elected as a Steward of Henley Royal Regatta in 2018, and is the first international woman to hold this lifetime appointment. She currently works as the Head Rowing Coach and Teacher at Canberra Grammar School, and as a member of the National Sports Tribunal. Ms Cook is a Director on the Board of Rowing Australia, and is the Chair of the Rowing Australia Coastal Rowing Working Group and was also recently appointed to the World Rowing Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Working Group and sits as an observer on the World Rowing Coastal Rowing Commission.
Jessica Goddard is Sports Management professional with a broad range of experience and education across local government, community and elite sport (club and governing body), event management, digital, sports marketing, media and communications.
Jessica currently works at the National Rugby League as the Digital Experience and Services lead. Her remit broadly focusses on employing digital capability, products and services to help solve problems, improve digital experiences and drive business outcomes.
Previously, she spent 6 years at the Cronulla Sharks National Rugby League Football Club leading the marketing, communications and digital team.
Jessica brings her knowledge of the digital landscape to baseball and is excited to use her capability to continue the great work that is already being done across the sport to elevate and amplify Baseball in Australia.
Robert Hazan, originally from New York, is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Guzman y Gomez Mexican Kitchen (GYG).
GYG is Australia’s fast growing food brand also operating in Singapore, Japan, and most recently the US.
Robert is an accredited coach and been involved with baseball in Australia at the grass roots level since 2008. He continues to be very active at his local club and currently has a son playing with the Cronulla Association in Sydney.
Robert proudly joined the BA Board in late 2020. He brings a strong international business background, experience with youth baseball and Little League in the US, and a genuine love of the game. Robert is passionately committed to the enormous growth opportunities for youth baseball and the ABL across Australia.
Nat Momsen has over 16 years’ experience in marketing roles within both global and national organisations across the industries of Automotive, Financial Services, Energy, Building & Construction and Sport. Nat currently holds the position of General Manager of Customer Brands at The Reece Group.
Nat possesses a deep understanding of the commercial sporting landscape having been responsible for multiple sporting sponsorships in her role as General Manager of Marketing at Nissan Australia and as Rights Holder in her role as Chief Marketing Officer at Basketball Australia.
Nat formed part of the inaugural Sport Australia/AIS Women in Leadership Program, in which 12 senior leaders across Australia were nominated to come together to assist, shape and evolve the sporting landscape for Women in Sport.
