It’s one of the most iconic Australian sports teams, but how much do you know about them and the historic 2004 Olympic Baseball team and tournament?
It’s the 20-year-anniversary of the 2004 Athens Olympics, so we’re winding back the clock to celebrate.
And if you’re anything like this writer, finding a detailed journey should be easier than it is – so that’s what we’ve set off to do.
From August 15-25 we will be pretending it’s exactly those dates but 20 years ago to commemorate the 2004 Silver Medal winning team.
We will be telling the story, as if the tournament was actually happening, each day.
You will see:
– Daily Match Reports of each of Team Australia’s games in the tournament by Robert Laidlaw;
– Quotes by players and characters involved in the game(s);
– Archived Official Photos from Getty Images and the team;
– A chance to learn about this iconic group of athletes;Make sure you follow Team Australia Baseball accounts to be taken along for the journey.
We will post stories, match recaps, box scores and information as they progress through our coverage right here and a booklet with all of it combined at the end.
Let’s keep the Olympic vibes going and pretend it’s 2004.
